I too have been thinking of Ronnie today and hoping all is well. With a bit of luck it was more precautionary and he is at worst a bit bruised an battered, nothing broken. What a brilliant weekend though...had an absolute ball. Can't make it to the last meeting of the season, so glad it was a good one. Indy 500 here I come next month!

Hard hit head on into wall down the pit end. He managed to reverse to infield then put thumbs down. Red lights on and he towed to pits in his car.

Well, Friday was awesome at Meeanee, weather fabulous but cold, track in great shape. Saturday was also an awesome day, but the end turned out to be a huge disappointment for us. On the third to last lap 48a and 29b ended up tangling on the 3rd to last lap and this resulted in a flat tyre for 29b. He cruised around on the flat tyre and as 48a went past him again, he attempted what can only be classed as a stockcar manoeuvre in a deliberate attempt to take 48 out. Not only did this endanger 48a but also 77k who was close behind. This can only be classed as reckless endangerment of all 3 competitors. We have watched our video of the flat tyre incident and both 29b and 48a are well out from the pole line, 48a giving 29b plenty of room, but 29b just drives straight ahead, not going around the corner and as 48a goes around the corner, 29b runs straight into him, catching us just in front of the rear tyre. PHil was awarded the chequered flag and that gave him enough points to take the HB Champs as well as the East Coast champs from Friday. After about 5 minutes the steward comes over to Phil and tells him that he has been excluded from the points, a protest has been lodged and that we deliberately ran into 29b! The decision has already been made, but they made this decision without asking for Phils side of events. When there are 2 cars involved how can you only ask for one opinion??
After talking to Phil again, the decision was reversed and the points were posted on the board and announced.
Whereupon another protest was lodged and the 2nd decision was overturned again. We are at a complete loss as to why all the evidence was not collected at one time and an informed decision made once and once only.
So the moral of the story is, reckless endangerment of competitors on the track earns you a $100.00 fine.
Arguing vehemently with the steward and slamming the door on the way out earns you a 21 day stand down.

Yeah i do feel for you as 48a wasnt the car at fault, how can you be at fault when your making a pass round the outside of someone and they go wider than they have all night and make contact with the back end of 48a resulting in a flat tire then have the cheek to lose the plot and go off the way he did! To me he was just upset (at himself) but had to blame someone else. Man if the SNZ officials saw it a different way then they need their heads read! aye dave

Oh well here goes, firstly I have got no gripes with any person to be mentioned . Before the meeting started there was the previous nights presentations, Steven 92 b was given his trophy and the presenter commented that him and his dad graham 29 b had come together the previous night, he responded -dad had a few handling problems . We only raced the sat night due to family commitments, we rang 29b to see if we could race sat night and we were warmly welcomed as we have been everytime we have raced there. the racing was all pretty good until the final stages we were following 29b for a while and he did seem to be fighting his car a little bit we had a couple of attempts to pass but backed out , Phil 48a came up to have a go at passing 29 b, 48a has passed a few cars in his time and 29 b was not making it easy for him then in turn two contact was made, from where I was it looked more a case of 29 b drifting wide but that aside I was very disappointed in Grahams next action he had plenty of time to think about his attack but still carried out a very dangerous manouver that could have taken my childrens dad away from them ,thankfully I was able to avoid him , I thought he was a bigger person than that, I have always enjoyed the Martins company and have appreciated their input into Meeanee and saloons ,so I was a bit saddened. As for the penalty issued to 48a I think it is very harsh and unfair and for such a competitor to miss three big meetings I think it is an absolute shame. I am hoping that some sort of reversal can be achieved as 48a has already had to miss Easter at Paradise and could miss Speedfest if this is not resolved . Cheers 77k

Shame to here this Phil is a dam good bloke!! i have also only raced in HB 2x this season and both times have been treated unfairly in my ministock. one time i was winning from a hb car and a lapped car spun infront of me and i had nowhere to go. the red light was put on and i got taken off. it is extreamly bad when the driver of the spun car admitts to the ref they had spun right in front of me to. also another incident involved the refs taking cars out the champs and then putting them back in which stuffed up my points and put a hb car on pole too. how do you get beaten by a car that didnt even finish the race? i think the refs need a bit of a "fair play" talk. cheers jamie

Here's a mini-crash - Saloon heat one Meeanee. 13r in-car footage from the pits onto the track and a few moments of racing before a decent smack to my right front and a lump of mud wipes out the camera! tinypic.com/player.php?v=jadpi1&s=5
