Toyota V8 like all the rest... ...well sort of. As you can see it has a different head configuration and has taken many hours of head scratching and engineering just to get it to this point Designed and built in Nelson by engine builder Jason Butcher and the Grays.

The exhaust work is a piece of art. Very obvious someone with a clue . Who was the mathematician who designed it and has it been on the dyno?

The exhaust work is a piece of art. Very obvious someone with a clue . Who was the mathematician who designed it and has it been on the dyno? As mentioned above, Jason Butcher is the brains behind the build, and as far as I know it hasn't been on the dyno yet as it has hardly had much of a run, I guess once the bugs are sorted a dyno run is likely.

so has the left hand head been turned end for end?or is it breathing thru the exhaust ports(what would have been the exhaust ports? and what is the piont?to get the exhaust out 1 side?to get the carb off to 1 side?not being critical, just wanted to know does look mean tho well done ;Dlove those pipes

Jared did start to tell me the exact reasons behind the set-up, but was going waaaayyyyy over my head, but I believe it is hoped for a more torquier (is there such a word?) engine with out of the corner pulling power.

far out there some work put into this but not alot of thought.. what a mission to do maintenance.. what a mission to take rocker covers off to check rockers etc, i hope the engine produces the torque you were looking for, to me i think with the long manifold pipes , and the exhaust length to collector you would loose torque. please correct me if i wrong. so how did it go on debut??

It sounded spectacular but an overheating issue, which had been possible, showed itself and Jared parked the car before doing any damage.
It looks enormously complicated, even to an engineering moron like myself, but where would we be without innovators?

Weird!!
OK, so having those really long primaries and inlet tracts would make it torquey - but doesn't having one set of inlet runners out in a cool air stream, and the other bank right up against 4 red hot header pipes (not insulated) make the density of the fuel charge way different on each bank?
It looks cool - but what a mission to build and maintain!
Be interesting to see how it goes against a conventional version.

The engine is hardly a week old, and there is a lot of work to go yet, Jared just wanted to get it on the track for some field trials
