Like KJ, I'm also lost for words and very saddened by this tragedy too  Gutted, saddened, shocked... man, words don't even cover it. Pete was a great guy both on and off the track, we all enjoyed watching him race. I had the pleasure of meeting Peter in the clubrooms after the Wellington teams, what an awesome guy. Deepest condolences to Andrea, Olivia, Rob and Sam, not to mention Pete's crew, team mates, and friends during this sad time of sorrow. Rest in Peace mate. Love from Yaz, Eds, Linz and Sue.   |

I have sat steering at this screen for over 30 minutes thinking of words to type,
sadly I never met the man
and i don't no his family
but feel so overwhelmed and saddened so much by his passing,
and all i can only offer is my deepest sympathies to his family and friends, it seems so little, but it is heartfelt

just a little story on how Peter touched myself,
I have been known to let things to get to me and fizz up,one night i was standing watching some racing on the pit bank at Meeanee,over the speaker came(stockcars on the dummy grid)i turn to my right and standing next to me was Peter Barry (having a feed) i say to him are you not racing tonight (stink for us)Peter was in jeans,jandals and a tee shirt.
Peter turns to me and says no worrys mate and walks of,
Race finished,stockcars come out the gate and yes no worries the man is out there,so thanks Peter and i still can hear you saying it no worries,i hope that i can be half as laided back as you,

Unfortunately our sport shares highs and lows, and this tragic event is the lowest.

What can one say, dumbfounded, shocked, upset, these words dont come close. What an entertainer, what a guy. This is a huge loss to speedway and those Pete surrounded himself with.

Pete flew the Kihikihi Crusaders flag for us at wellington even after slicing his finger open on his fan.He did us all proud!!Amazing man and and an amazing family, glad too have known you for the short time that we have and the memory's that we have will stay with us forever.
Peter You will be sadly missed at Kihikihi and the wider speedway community, you left your mark where ever you went and you pulled us all in hook line and sinker.
