I think it will be very hard to pick, there will be a lot of good drivers there and if they all make it into the final it will be a great race to watch. Good luck to them all.
Cheers Lindsay.
ps: what is the format they will be running.

Not sure if Tama is racing but should put jordy in a mod. heard he was sitting on jacko's tail pretty well for a rookie.

I'm sooo disappointed we won't be there My top 10 (a top three is just too hard) Luke Keegan (he's only getting better) Mike Gourley Natasha (she's taking a year off so the last chance for a while) Scotty Lane (he's not Rocket Lane for nothing) Foxy Lacko Glen Leech (fast and his set up is almost always spot on) Bunter Tama (if he's running) Dixon Hmmm, a top three (if I must, but not in order) Scotty Glen Mike Anyway, the bottom line is I hope you all have a bloody good time with no carnage. Good luck to all Oh, and I expect to see regular updates so i can follow it as much as I can via this fang-dangle interweb thing

#5GM Brandon "Parky" Parkinson would be a good bet for a local south islander to take the title in a few very short months

After seeing his new car on WG's opening night Id have to agree Brandon Parkinson would be a good bet for a podium

Hey all, very interesting opinions and predictions, couldn't really see how anyone could predict anything early on. I see Scott Lane and Tama and dixon listed, but they haven't been out yet this year, and I know Tama has given it away and the Rocket man is taking the season of. We've just had the first meeting where the top cars were on the track together for the first time and if I was to make a call on their form so far this season, I can promise you that Foxy is super fast and smooth, Stuart Rose was running some of the fastest times and John'Jacko'Jackson was in a world of his own. Most of the 'Big Boys" were running times within 0.3 seconds of one another on a less then perfect track. Good luck picking a winner out of that. I believe we've got a super competitive ten or so cars up here, all going down to compete for that no 1 spot. Unfortunately we won't see the north and south island cars on the track at the same time before the NZ champs, some of the south island cars I know are quick would have to feature Tash, leetch and also "Parky" with his new car which of coarse is a former Foxy car that in his words he should have never sold, Luke has the pedigree and back-up to run out front as well. But they are all in a vacuum as well. If they can cope with the" you leave a gap I'm in there approach whether it's big enough or not" approach of the North Islanders they will do well. I haven't done the poll yet as it is early days yet but it's going to be one of the fiercest battles for the title yet if last weekend at WP is anything to go by. Competition was fierce, hard and fast, not always clean but not many cautions either for the track conditions and the super fast pace they were running. All I can say to the south island boys is" hold on to your hats.

All I can say to the south island boys is" hold on to your hats. Mate think there's going to be a few surprised north islanders when you come down. I haven't seen so much competition in the south island for ages. As for the not so clean racing, if your coming down here you better be pretty clean as our referee's don't miss too much and quick at pulling you up if they think your doing wrong. See you down here. 4 of the last 5 titles have been won by a local.
Tony won in Huntly 04/05 Tony backed up in Chch 05/06 (last time title won by a visitor) Allan Haigh won in Auckland 06/07 Tama won in Wellington 07/08 Jacko won at Stratty 08/09
You can argue that the last 3 have been won by a guy who was 2nz the year before. Allan was 2nz heading into title he won as was Jacko. Technically Tama wasn't but if you remember Scotty, Foxy and Tama were all tied for 2nd in Alk and required a runoff to get final placings. Runoff was a shambles with the track being watered etc and Tama drew the unlucky grid 3 start.
Going from all the above fate should point to a win for Glen Leech as the incumbent 2nz and although he runs out of Blenheim he really is a local Chch car.
Time will tell I suppose but like Tash I also think that the SI guys (and girl!) will be no pushovers this year. I think they have the quality, ability and the numbers on the pace that could easily mean the hometown advantage results in SI guys filling the podium.
the title could also easily become a shoot out of Stratty vs Chch as the guys running with an "s" on their car are plentiful and all fast! If Scotty in fact is a no show then that weakens the Akl challenge greatly. Scotty has been extremely competitive every year he has ventured down South and the rest of us have not made the trip down very often.
As for us we will be coming down for another shot as we always do. Our expectations are lower this year than previous years but we will be giving it 110%. We are targeting next season when the event is at home as our best chance of winning our 2nd title but as we all know by now, these things are a lottery on the night!

Geez Jamo based on what you've said and the fact I think Glen is now a chch car again, I think I might have to put money on Glen. At least that way I might have two chances of winning on the night.
