More gambler facts:
Gambler were the first to build a Sprint car chassis with downtubes (or "high bars" as most kiwis call them) which was around 86/87. The first two were campaigned by Steve Kinser and Brad Doty, and literally changed the face of Sprint car racing overnight, hence why that particular year was the most successful.

The first two were campaigned by Steve Kinser and Brad Doty, and literally changed the face of Sprint car racing overnight, hence why that particular year was the most successful. Karl Kinser designed and built a sprintcar in 1982 with "upper frame rails that extend from the top of the roll cage to the front of the car" "At the end of the 1986 World of Outlaws season,Karl and Steve surprised the competition by unveiling the lastest state-of-the-art Gambler Sprintcar and won a race "right out of the box".The new chassis featured Karl's idea of an upper frame rail that traveled from the front torsion bar tube up and over the driver to form the top rail of the cage and then back down to intersect the rear torsion tube"
