But whilst we are on the topic, I'd vote national again if given the choice. especially with john key as their leader. now more than ever it is important to have a leader with some economic sense and amongst politicians you won't find many more qualified to get us through these economically tough times than john key.

I can remember saying to my wife when national got elected that it was a pity Natioal have inherited this reccession and then we find out that the ACC worth had been false and that the damage was well and truely done by then. So wild cat if helen comes back she can live with you ok!! ;D Now all we need now is to get the wet weather out of the way. I need to see some speedway action!

When you do the maths, this has been coming for a long time but to put it another light we now have 1 tax payer for 1 bludger(Or person who is getting paid to do nothing) and that includes all the normal people on ACC,retired etc etc.
People, this country is in trouble at a rate of $250,000,000 per day!!!!!
The recession aint over yet by a long shot!!!

Is it a requirement of all speedway competitors to carry personal insurance for injuries sustained racing? If not how much does Speedway add to the cost of ACC?

This is why when I decided I was ready to move back from the states and my employer was happy for me to live anywhere in the Asia/Pacific region I picked Australia. My US dollars would have brought a lot more in NZ but long term it was an easy decision to make. Pity about the speedway over here!

Wasn't it Helen who got us into this mess? How can ACC pay out on suicides?
I'm happy to pay for physio etc without ACC, if you need it, you will pay for it! Most of my physio is from speedway related accidents, my own fault and i will pay! I also have health insurance to pay for my own injuries.

Sorry Wildcat looks like it's you on ya own wanting Helonwheels back.
Sooner this lot sell ACC the better.
why do we need the state telling us we need compulsory insurance and then tell us who that insurance has to be taken out with?
Dump ACC and bring in a victim of crimes compo scheme I reckon

Just to throw in a bit of speedway into the topic. I think it should be compulsory for our political leaders to attend speedway. This way they could assimilate our combined wisdom and have one thousand and one different opinions on everything. Wait a minute isn't that already the case in Parliament? Never mind at least our country will run as cohesively as speedway does. Wait a minute it already does doesn't it? Darn I don't seem to know as much as I thought I did, oh well back to watching speedway instead of political news for me.

...we now have 1 tax payer for 1 bludger(Or person who is getting paid to do nothing) ...retired etc etc. Personally I take offense at that. You're calling my father who fought in WWII and then worked for 40+ years a bludger because he's retired??? Well, you know where you can shove that opinion!!! People, this country is in trouble at a rate of $250,000,000 per day!!!!! I reckon you need to lay off the wacky backy

never let the facts get in the way of massed ignorance,,, ask anybody racing overseas how much there health and liability insurance is, and what it covers, and how long for,. also ask them if that insurance would cover anything as kiwi as, bungy jumping, mountain climbing, (helen and sir ed)stock car racing(full contact, not namby pamby foreign rubbish)moto-x riding, farm quad bike riding(and we know how many people this kills and injures) DIY disasters by know-it-alls with new power tools(we all know these people), ,and the other thousand and one crazy things us kiwis do without a second thought(while every foreigner, including any aussie brett) watch on ,with a mixture of horror at the possible medical bill, and awe at how nuts we are. thats what makes this place unique and thats also why new zealand is the only place in the developed world where we can do all these things and why the adventure tourism industry thrives here,,, jet boat ride in the u.s.not bad,,, the insurance ,,, outreagous, especially when you ask how long they will cover you for ,, so if all you experts want to sell acc off and go for the private option, ask any aussie or american, what the chances of full contact stock car racing getting big in their countries ever happening,, and inevitably the question of liability (and lawsuits over injuries caused by deliberate acts of violence,),and insurance cost, and cover ,get to be the big problem. I spent a year living in sydney, and couldnt get over how big a bunch of sissies they were( they dont even have open kids playgrounds now,,,too many lawsuits because little johnie skinned his knee,, and with no acc to pick up the tab, your private insurance picks up the bill,,, then sticks it to you with less benefits), how many times I heard, dont do that kiwi, there will be a lawsuit if it goes wrong, dont help resucitate strangers, because if it goes wrong ,there family will want compo(more than once, no humor intended). what a system , 20 million aussies walking around in thongs and buggie smugglers,,, all scared to do anything really outreagous, all because of a lack of a full coverage accident insurance scheme. like the world financial f*ck*p , acc problems have been caused by many different factors, but the fact is, acc is a world leading scheme that many countries have looked at and want to adopt,,, in every case these counties(and states, victoria tried hard to get one going) have been persuaded, bought off or otherwise convinced of how terrible our acc scheme is by the same too groups of bussinesses,, lawyers and insurance companies, the same too groups who have the most to gain from winding down acc here. think very hard if thats what you really want,,, to give more money to lawyers and insurance companies
