Hi all,
I am sitting here feeling sorry for myself. I am on call for work as an after hours gas technician for emergency call outs, and can't be in Huntly because I have to be in the BOP.
I am sure there are many others that are limited to what speedway they can attend due to work committments. Who wants to share?
At least I still get to go to Bay Park, so not all is bad.

Being a train driver doesn't always make it easy to get to the track. But hopefully i can make it to the important meetings

I am a church minister. Which puts a high priority on my weekends - esp. Sundays.
What I do is a much more important to me, so it is not often that I'm grumpy because I miss things. I would miss the alternative more.
There have been a couple of times I would have liked to check out KK but their meets are on sunday afternoon - so by the time I finish and then drive from Tga it's not worth it.
The greater limiter is that I am a Husband/Dad who has a mortagage and kids who need educating - $$$$$$$$$$$$
So watching speedway in other places often coincides with me being away for work / family. And when not away BP is only 15 mins away with great club nights most weeks

don't forget where the money comes from to pay for your speedway entertainment... without an income there is no way I would be doing what I am able to do now...

After being unemployed for 7 months following a redundancy, it sure is great to have recently started a new job that will fund my addiction over the summer. I really was starting to get worried, then got the magical phone call at start of November. The addage that finding a job is a full-time job is oh so true. For those out there that are still trying, keep at it and try and remain positive. Good luck. The only problem with the new job is that I will miss most friday nights on 2 day meetings but that is a small price against being gainfully employed again. Also may miss a couple of big meetings over Chrissy but there is always Macgors and Speedbox.

An answer that was posted when asked about Streaming meetings ... or for those sitting at home, can listen to champ meetings maybe? As I asked initially, why? ? Do we no longer want to attract punters through the gates? Possibly if the service could be blocked to the local area, whilst still being available to those, say, 200kms or more away, I could see some value in it, but personally I'd prefer to see clubs doing more to attract people to the track, than vice versa........ IF It was in GISBORNE you could listen LIVE !!!!

Can understand the aingst people on benefits feel, bloody hard to find $40 entry,am in same boat, had contract end in end of Feb,then diagnosed with lung cancer in April so no good attempting to find work, not fair telling future boss, yep can start now,but need 6-8 weeks from mid June for lung removal. So on benefit till a couple of weeks ago, bloody great to be employed, and even better it's 8-5 mon-fri,no weekends, almost as good as tue-fri and 6hrs sat, finish sat arvo from 2.30 off till tues.

When I was a field technician in security I had to try plan the oncall rosta to try and fit in as best as I could with speedway. My workmates were only too happy to help, and apart from a couple of meetings where I had to risk being called away, I only missed a few WP meetings and a Huntly prizegiving. When redundancy called, the company we were subcontracting to were looking for someone to despatch alarm work so naturally applied for the job, and wrote on the application forms "Not Available on weekends" I got the job, sit at a desk and no more work related missouts.

Hay contractor clashes very badly with speedway season. Maybe if I'd spent more time in the shed than on the tractor we might have done more than 3/4 of a lap last night. Oh well not much to fix for next time and its still clean.
