The final heat of the Saloons was a bit controversal. McClymont & Rossco tangled and ended up infield. the yellows came on 1 1/2 laps later and let them back on at the back. half a lap after restart grandad spins out and his front end is out over the track at the exit of turn 2. NO YELLOW! nothing until another car is left partially on the track half way down the back straight 6 or 7 laps later.
what's with that?
do we have offical results?

Very good nights racing tonight. was good to see the saloons having very close racing, which definately made it more enjoyable for the spectators to watch. Didnt wait around for final results as i wanted to get home. The other classes were great too, with some good hard hits in the stockcars. The derby was the only let down of a great nights racing But top Job Rotorua

we had problems with that rot ref last meeting at huntly when steve & lance jennings tangled .caused by a 3rd car cutting jennings off .jennings braked & steve ran up his backside & the 2 ended up mid feild .he took steves points ???how sad is that .we had a saloon that blocked all nite & even turned down on granddad .did cost him a tyre though .but nothing done .MY DECISION IS FINAL .Tui

That was my understanding to bullet re placings it must have been reversed after we all left ;D Be intresting to hear Granddads take on the nights racing as I thought he was taken out in the third heat??by some over aggressive driving ;D :)I must also give a mention to 88R Clive Stanaway he may be new to the stockcar class but man he knows what his bumper is for giving out hits and taking them had a talk to him after the second race he was loving it ;D .Thanks to Marty for posting results also for keeping me posted on the Stratford results Cheers

wats with the rules??i thought if a yellow comes on you go back to the incident?and if you are not the cause of the crash you take your spot back where you were.its the same as passing a car then theres a crash you go back to the incident which means the pass doesnt count and you get put back.my opinion "brent took it clean a clear".very tidy driving from the back of the feild.(2 times)

On Rotorua website It says 1nz was on the infield for a lap and a half before the yellow come on so was put a lap down. from my understanding the yellow was put on because of another car stopping on the track and not because of the accident that put the 1nz in the infield.

Hadn heard official results last night, but found the racing fantastic! Fast, close, with a few oops thrown in for good measure. Be good to hear Grand dads take on the last heat. I thought cautions should have come on with his car partially on track. When he lept out knew he was not happy. Stockcars turned it on for 2 heats esp 99r Shannon Orr. Heat 3 a bit tame. Superstocks d**n fast. Spoke to Hewsons crew and he reckoned the car was hooking up too well after 1st heat so had to tone it down a bit (and still got lap record in 3rd). Sprint cars, LOVED them. New overall lap record! 13.12 Man they can move. Not sure about a full field around Paradise though. Could be carnage!

1nz Brent McClymont took it away to me even if he was on the in feild for a lap and a half why was he put back into 8th place on the restart aswell..... might have to go by production saloon rules for those big meetings doesnt matter who spins ya you just keep racing because SNZ referees are getting hotdogs.. still great nights racing all round

On Rotorua website It says 1nz was on the infield for a lap and a half before the yellow come on so was put a lap down. a lap & a half is how I saw it as well. Therefore brent still finished the final heat last because he certainly didn't unlap himself. therefore as the rotorua website says 3rd I don't recall rossco's car stopped on the track at that time (but could be wrong). As for the record form James Dahm 13.1412 seconds. That's about 1 second faster than Skinny's time on openning night - then the track record. Even Shay Oliver made it into the mid 13's. The superstocks set a new record too 16.9. Just shows how quick the sprint cars are. They also said on the night that ministocks were going around in the mid 18's?! Not that much slower for all that extra horse. The laying of the new clay seems to been a sucessful choice. Thoughly enjoyed the night. Thanks to all

Can someone please explain the "UK style format" to me. The best i could figure is that it was some sort of handicap system. however the winner seemed to start in the front group each time. great racing anyway.

Cresswell was on the infield, then moved car to just on track which brought on the lights. Same should of happened with Grandad too in my opinion. The previous lap record was Rodney Wood in his sprintcar. Beaten last night by around a second. Friends who havent been to speedway before had the do nuts done right in front of them on turn 2 and absolutly loved it! Well done Sonya and her team on a great night, and to Stan and his team for the track prep. That thermal clay is a winner!

Yes, in the UK every race is effectively a handicap race, drivers seeded on experience and results and work their way backwards as the get better and get a few results. At Rotorua the cars raced with coloured ribbons, but in the UK the car's roofs and wings are painted white, yellow, blue or red, and that is how they line up for each race with a gap between the groups and rolling starts. And yes, the back markers could make the ground through the pack as they have in the past, and Rochelle Stanaway made the most of that with 4 1sts, a 3rd and an 11th to blitz the boys.

Feedback from spectators last night certainly confirmed they got their monies worth, even if they had paid! ;D Many also confirming what the SNZ referees apparently couldn't or wouldn't see, act on.The grand parade was incident free ...As was the pre-race laps of race one ...Heat one as Rossco Cresswell waving the flag ...No incidents pre-race TWO ...Heat two has a few interesting race lines by competitors (EG: at 1:33secs), a few interesting calls (or lack of) by the ref ...So who gets put to the rear as the cause of the yellow? ....Heat three has a nervous grandad 13r off grid two and surrounded by the very intimidating competition, anticipating leading for about 10 seconds into the race. It wasn't long before I had the best few in the house of two of the countries best drivers. Unfortunately my potential heat 3, 3rd place hopes were soon dashed. Slightly over zealous driving by 1NZ and 77k (see 1:57sec), plus 77k causing a yellow, had disastrous consequences for 13r on the re-start ...Heat three re-start has no relegation to the rear and 1NZ is a lap down. The start is orderley, albeit with a few obvious gaps left by a few in an attempt to gain an advantage at the expense of those behind. First lap turn one, contact between the right rear of 42w and the left side of 13r has 13r spinning preceriously to the pole line, to end up stationary straddling the pole line. Awesome driving by following cars to avoid contact. Sitting straddling the track on the exit of a turn is not within my comfort zone, and my reliance on the officials to stop / slow the race (yellow lights) was premature - the cars flash by my nose and my rear gets tighter. A gap in the traffic has me out of there after two laps are completed, on foot! The third lap has two cars tangle avoiding my car, with one coming to a stop straddling the pole line (starting to look like angle parking down a public street!) - surprise, surprise, the ref finds the yellow light button. The second restart, Heat three, is similar to the last, has drivers trying to anticipate the start with large gaps. Steve Williams still leads with Phil hot on his tail. 1NZ Brent McClymont slices his way through the field coming in, what appeared to be forth (actually a lap down) behind 42w.Has to make you wonder what's in store at the NZ Saloon Champs at Baypark? ... more to follow
