Maybe not such a bad thing, as the northern guys have a choice. Considering the NZ's are the following weekend some may choose to go to WP rather than travel all the way to Palm Nth. Go to the 248's and get laps in and risk some serios damage? or go to WP and get some laps in with a lot less chance of damage? My thoughts anyway.

Crazy planning, if they can get 10 cars I will be mighty surprised.
While the Global Challenge has not been well supported by any H, R, or A cars over the past few seasons most of the H & R cars that travel will be repairing from the 240s or preparing for the NZs, and how many A cars are there, unless some that haven't raced for a couple of seasons are enticed out. Even 2 of the Marx cars have repairs from the 240s as has 75A, so 3 regulars may not make Saturday, not sure if Paul Vazey escaped damage on Friday night, but he did see a fair bit of action.
Which leaves 61A, 53A and ?
Another impossible job for you Tracy.

You miss my point Colin E, my point is why the hell would the drivers have a choice!! Why would the idiot's go out of their way to take any of the cream away from the 248's, or even worse advertise a superstock championship and then front with a few average cars. (i'm picking the latter will occur).

Auckland Superstock Champs at Waikaraka Park has moved from this weekend to Saturday Feb 13th.
Superstocks are not racing at Waikaraka this weekend at the request of the committee.
Apologies again for the short notice.
Cheers! Tracy

In my opinion the Global was a pretty average meeting last year. Plenty of hype but little else. No reason why another track can't run the same class the same weekend especially when the distance between Palmerston & Auckland is considered.

No reason why another track can't run the same class the same weekend especially when the distance between Palmerston & Auckland is considered. Not the point, the Auckland event would have no effect on the Global Challenge, the issue was availability of a field for Auckland, given the low Superstock fields of A cars anyway, the event that took place in Rotorua on Sunday, and the event due to take place at KK on the 30th/31st. And, you and I must have been looking at different racing at last years Global Challenge, it was a pretty interesting event with some very close racing between a few cars that carried over heat to heat. They don't all have to be smashfests. A good change of plan Auckland committee.

So Palmy can run the global this weekend with everything thats been and will be going on but Auckland can't run the same class? Without a lot of promotion Auckland was always unlikely to get a big field for this event considering home track numbers. Glad you enjoyed last years global. I'm curious, if like me you caught it on the way home from the teams in Wellington was it enough to get you back this year?

Last week they advertised a demo derbie which (in my opinion) the crowd came to watch and didn't run it , then this week they had the thought of running a championship without any real possibility of delivering a quality feild of cars the club so desperately needs to stay on track. I'm not sure who made the call, but it feels wrong that the promotions manager is the highest paid in the history of the club and we seem to be heading down the same promotion road as Abrahams took us last year. Thats why some of us get a little teste over it Marty Jamo

To All Concerned:
Waikaraka Park Speedway has had a stella start to the new season with record crowds and drivers in attendence. Last weekend the derby was canned and all public were offered a chance to be refunded when the decision was made once the team realised we had issues with numbers. (I was not in Auckland for this event, however was contacted and advised that they did the right thing) I also think the LARGE fireworks display attracted the bulk of the crowd too.
Jamo, we value your feedback but please be correct in saying that we are heading down the same path as last year. This is SO not the CASE despite some of the critics best endevours. Our average crowd is double what it was last season and ahead on the two seasons previous, so all in all in an economy which is recovering we are doing well.
The SuperStock Champs have been planed to run on 13th February and we expect a good turnout for this. As always my phone is available for your feedback if you need to get hold of me to clarify any ASSCC club business in terms of Venue and Show marketing. We are trying to rebuild the venue and do value everyones support!
