I just found out today that my seat is ready and will be on its way down from Harris Race Cars tomorrow so I will hopefully be able to start fitting that soon. Now just to get the body sorted! Other jobs over the next few weeks will be modifying and fitting the radiator, getting the gearbox stripped down and shortened and pickup the bonnet from Murray Gordge, then try and find someone to widen it 20mm. (that will teach me for widening the chassis that 50mm!)

Not much progress to report on at the moment. I finally got the engine mounted in this Ministock on Friday night/Saturday morning. I was determined I wasn't going to bed until it was done and the shed was cleaned up and so it was 3:15am by the time I got to bed.Now that I've done that and I've almost caught up on the Stratford website stuff I can get back to the Stockcar again. The radiator and seat have turned up though, so that is good. I will put a pic of the seat up once I figure out how to put it together! I did do a little bit of work on the car. It is sitting on the ground again at ride height and the diff is sitting in place with wheels on it so that I can work out where the seat needs to go. I have also put the floor in as its a bit tricky trying to set the seat up if your feet go through the floor. ;D

Just an idea, If you put a small hole in the floor it makes it easier to get the dirt out.

Looking real good, putting some of the "professionals" to shame. Just dont forget to extend the floor back passed the base of the seat, they seem to be pretty hot on that one this year

I finally found some time to get in the shed today and managed to get some work done. I don't know why I write in these messages what the next jobs are going to be because I never seem to do them in that order. ;D Anyway, the front shocks are now mounted.I have also made the mounts for the rear coil overs. They are not fully welded on though because even though I worked out all the factors such as shaft length, tyre squash etc to determine how high they need to be, they are probably still in the wrong place. The car as it sits now with the seat sitting in place.I was going to set up a cable system for the shifter but then decided I wanted the gear lever the same as the old car. After much internet research and information from Chris Hill I finally found out that what I had previously was a Speco shifter. After much more internet research I found out that they haven't been made for a few years. I eventually looked on the Aussie Ebay and came across this.Even with the exchange rate, postage and bank fees it was still much cheaper than they were when they were last sold here.
I have ordered the rear trailing arms from John O'halloran and hopefully they will be here early next week so I can finish mounting the diff. Will put some more pics up when that is done.

Those rear shock mounts in the 2nd and 3rd photos look a little light but real nicely made!! Im on a limb here and ASSUME that they are finished?? Got to remember that with a coil over shock you have ALL the suspension loading on that mount. I fear that you will bend those mounts with all the bump and grind that goes on. My suggestion would be to plate the top of the exsisting mount youve made with, say 3mm flat and put a 'strong back' gussetacross the top and down the back of the mount towards to internals of the car just to give the load somewhere to go.Sort of a gusset that is over the top of the mount other that under it.I doubt if you could get any under the mount as they would foul on the coil spring and cap. From engineering point of veiw the front mounts for you shocks are actually stronger than the back ones and have less than half the load on them!! Just something to keep in mind as this car is a real credit to ya and there will be many people wanting to know how it goes when you get on track and it would be a shame to say "The shock mount bent/broke because it was too light" Youre doing a great job and Im impressed with the finish youre putting into everything. Pete

Once again, thanks for your tips Pete. Will have a look at strengthening the mounts tonight. Actually, no I won't because they may not be at the right height. I will have a look at strengthening them once I have found out if they are in the right place or not. ;D
