Race Report
Waikaraka Park, 27th March
It was our first trip to Waikaraka Park this season after a couple of rain outs before Christmas kept us out of there,
We have not had a good time lately with the car lacking side bite in the middle of the corner, but with a few nights in the shed, and some help from Chris Street and we were sure we had a handle on it,
We wheel packed first but we were race 6 so gave us plenty of time to clean the car, race 1 off grid 5 and there was a bit of carnage on a track that was still slippery in places, we had the side bite back but the car was not great still with a heap of under steer in it, I think we ended up about 10th but I was not happy with how I drove, or how the car handled,
Race 2 off grid 10, we were much better in this heat after some changed back in the pits, we made a few passes and moving forward, there were a couple of large bumps on the entry to turn 1 which made passing hard there, as the quick line was out wide and the bumps made it hard to pitch it in that hard on the inside,
The feature saw off us grid 9, after a few goes at the start and a bit of carnage we settled into a fight with the 10a car being driven by Brendon Stuckey and the 35a car, I was trying my hardest to get by Brendon, a couple of big moves into turn 3 did not work and I got the closest on the last lap and tried to drag race him to the line, but ended up about a meter,
It was a good night, and it was awesome to get the car back to where I had it last year , big thanks to Brendon the Auckland Saloon rep for letting us run, and a big thanks to Aaron Dreaver for making time to come and thank us for running after the meeting, you very rarely get that from a promotor, thanks,
We are running easter at Rotorua on Sunday, see you guys there,
