Thanks to those involved in getting the audio through at last. At times during the evening there were almost 100 people tuned it to the action.
Pickens was on a different level in the feature. Consistently the fastest car at all times during the race.
Time to re-ignite the Pickens vs Butterworth debate.

Could Pickens challenge the elite of USAC, and win the USAC national? or is the challenge of getting used to tarmac to much to ask? Still Barry B for me!

No debate for mine. Barry B was involved in a different era of racing. Taking nothing away from MP, he could be great.
Has he got a ride in the US for the off season?

Way to go MP. I still can't believe in this day and age, in a non-contact class, we can have lap scoring issues....... Pickens Wins The 50 Lap Classic
New Zealand champion Michael Pickens continued where he left off last night at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway, with a win. He claimed the 50 lap Speedcar Classic in sensational style after starting from position 18. Second and third is still the subject of official investigations.........but apparently we do, with the suggestion Lance Beale (2nd) was a lap down. Maybe Aussies just have trouble counting as MP actually started from grid 20. If Beale was a lap down he is still 4th, behind Pickens, Alach and Dave Gick.

I was at PCR last night. I can tell you with 100% certainty that Beal was a genuine fast 2nd place. I watched the whole thing from start to finish, no doubt in my mind. More importantly he was catching Pickens as it looked like his car went off with about 5 or 10 to go.

Could Pickens challenge the elite of USAC, and win the USAC national? Pickens life stats for USAC races Total Races: 19 A Mains: 19 Wins: 1 Top 5: 5 Top 10: 10 Top 15: 14 Top 20: 16 No Rhino, I dont think so. No Percy, not yet, you can never add all the hearts and minds won by Barry Butterworth into the equation, I think Barry laps the field with that one.

See macgor's Notice Board for details. How about interviewing some Aussies like Mark"Browndog" Brown . Better still how about that 5 times NZ Champion Mr Kendall....., He is going to race the 50 at Brisbane.
