Congratulations firstly to the Pumas, who raced as a champion team all weekend. Certainly made me very proud to be a Palmy supporter, and I can't stop smiling! Everyone contributed at the right time, which is the sign of a great team (not unlike the Young Guns). The two teams champs rookies (Prentice and Taniwha) more than stood up and fitted in perfectly. The future looks bright for the stockcar class in PN. Scary to think that there are another half dozen (or more) drivers waiting in the wings that would have not looked out of place in the Pumas.
Well done to the Young Guns, who fought until the last corner of the last lap. A truly exceptional team who set the benchmark so high, and achieved a run of consecutive championships that may never be beaten.
Thanks to all 10 teams for putting on a great show. Unfortunate that the crowd numbers did not do the event justice.
Well done to the Welly weather for meaning that the finals were postponed to Sunday. Daytime teams racing never fails to deliver, and seems to be better when the track is stuffed.
Bring back 12 teams for 2011/12! Friday night was average at best, and while it couldn't be helped with 10 teams, one can only think that a 12 team format with groups of 3, with points only coming into it when teams win a race each in their group, would be so much better. Sunday's racing was as good as you will ever see, and first across the line is a big part of that.
Bring on 2011/12, Stockcar teams is under-rated compared to Superstock teams, but the action is just as awesome, if not better at times.
