To go and see what i saw at palmy on Saturday night just been for $25 is just as ridiculous as being expected to pay $25 for the manawatu yth ministock champs. In any other market a sports blue chip event (teams champs) would be $40 -$50 for the cheap seats"
I hope he doesn't mind but I've copied and pasted Ramjams comments from another thread re Auckland Teams.
Question: How much would you pay to see Palmy teams? Probably get me into trouble here but would I pay $80 for an adult to see 12 teams at Palmy? Yep I would so long as I knew that a good portion was going to the teams, not that I could control that.
(By the way how much would it cost for live TV?)

For live tv it would be expensive for example to get the new full HD truck from OSB (Outside Broadcast) the people that do the rugby, for the truck to be delivered to your ground eg driven it costs $5000 thats just delivery  Cheers Duane |

I am quite happy to pay my $50 per night where else do you get 3 plus hours of top entertainment? you would pay as much or more for a game of rugby = 80mins. I believe that for the number of competitors speedway draws the highest number of spectators than any other sport.  need these for the Blenheim sun. |

We only have to pay $30.00 in Auck for top international drivers so why would you want to pay $80.00 for stockcars . Wait till comes on TV thats me for stockcar racin .  |

I would pay my $50 to see N.Z's top Stockcar drivers bearing in mind that will be 60 drivers and also 6 top class over seas drivers. For more than one or two races a night. Also think about this the interest of the teams champs extends to the U.S.A My son is flying in on the Friday and out again on the Sunday for the event.

The value of this event isn;t just the experiance - to me its the fact that - You can walk to the track from your motel - so not 2 hours out of the carparking.
- You get scrutineering in walking distance, and the wife can go shopping while you check out the cars in the square on friday
- THe Pits are open all night - you get the build up of excitement as the drivers are accessiable, and the big rigs are nxt to the track. YOu can see the repairs and frantic work by the teams, which makes it all so exciting.
- There are outstanding facilities - wide variety of food, drink, seating available - and not a bad seat in the house (unless a drunk yobo is next to you)
- Majority of workshops/teams are in town, so saturday you really get the sense of the event as stockcars are everywhere, and if your lucky some are staying at the same location
Its an awesome weekend for me, not just the 3 hours of entertainment, and thats part of why the cost is acceptable at the current level, even with declining number of teams races. Its great to see TV3 start to get in behind with live screening of the draw, and two lots of programing of the event - great to see it do the event justice. |

i fly over from aus to watch nz superstock racing the cheapest part is the entry fee.ill pay what ever it is.you can get anything like superstock racing here in aus.so to me its worth alot more than what ever they charge to get in

I think that if it was $100 per nite i would still go.
Theres nothing like it really , The best speedway fix of the season .
The only downside is that theres only one a year .
Looks like Auckland are trying their best to make the 2nd best event happen.Hoping that all outside clubs can get together and help as well...

Honestly, I think $50 is just about right. Is it three times as good as my usual Nelson club night? Absolutely. Is it three times as good as the stock shock or ELF Cup super saloons or NZ TQs? Probably not ...Nelson runs with the same gate price $15 and $7, regardless of the event.
There's a fair bit of filler in the programme still (car of the week, 30min of parade laps, Wanganui versus Rotorua ... oops :-) ) and yet there is still nothing like this meeting and everything from February to April pales in comparison.
But, factor in travel, air tickets x 3, vastly more expensive since Origin Pacific folded, beds (okay, family provide ours), food and entertainment ... and it is a $1500 trip for three days for my sons and myself.
If I thought my $50 seats were going to cost $100, and the kids were going to rise by a similar ratio, I'd truly have to weigh the value versus how long it takes to earn the money and what el;se I could or should do with it.

So say if the adults were +$20 and kids +10 this year it would mean your $1500 is now a $1580 road trip. Would you really miss out on a weekend with the family on a great Speedway meeting for that? |

high prices have more effect on the local followers rather than the travelling fans . Used to wonder why some tracks didn't operate a loyalty scheme for local faithful when it comes to some of the big meets.
