there's pro's and con's with trying to pack as many meetings as poss into a short time frame. percy seems to have identified a major possible problem, rainouts . maybe a contingincy plan to run an abreviated meeting is a good idea. over the last couple of years, with the increasing number of two day meetings we now have, rainouts have been a huge problem.speaking personally, if I had towed 1000K's to race(or had driven 500 K's to spectate), I would rather have an abreviated meeting ,there and then, rather than have to make the, ever more costly, trip back for the whole thing to be rerun.

You can please;
some of the people some of the time
some of the people all of the time
all of the people some of the time
but never all of the people all of the time.
Obby and Ivan are a good example of that - two drivers with totally opposing views. And spectators with differing views from both. Such is life.......

I know where you're coming from Barry. And I understand it from a south island point of veiw as well. I just look at it this way,
and it may well be wrong ;D
Some drivers put it all on the line every meeting, now with some of the best blockers/hitters in the sport being involved with teams, there is a real possibility of one of two things happening at the NZ's. There is huge potential for serious car damage, injuries/KO's. Now teams like PN, Well and the like can fill these spots with ease, some of us smaller clubs would be put into a bit of a flusta trying to fill those spots. I mean our club for example, we would be in serious trouble if we lost one driver for any reason. The team we have is the team, there is no reserves, no one lining up to say yep. Now before you or anyone else say it, I know it's not yours or any one elses problem, never the less, it is a problem.
Sometimes when people don't agree, it's not for the wrong reasons, it's purely because they are looking at it in a different way.

Seem to recall people was moaning and groaning about wellington putting the teams on those dates as of the nz champs and how people wont race ect cant get teams because of dates...
And having both so close will mean less action for the NZ'S as many will save there cars

the funny thing that guys forget is that you can get just as much damage on a club night racing with a full feild, so whether it's the NZ's , teams, or whatever, i cant see the difference. the only small glitch is for the guys from say south of Taupo not having access to workshops etc for repairs to make the next meeting with these individual champs north of there.. The other problem is RAIN...... ;D ;D

the funny thing that guys forget is that you can get just as much damage on a club night racing with a full feild Good Call Sandy! In fact qualifying night of NZ champs is bound to be tame, and even the main night doesnt always go off. The only problem if NZ Champs is before teams is that some guys may preserve their cars, and some that dont qualify may not even run in the other non qualifier groups. Rain may be an issue, but if the 2 clubs work together, they should be able to come up with some plan.

Its all just a ploy to try and stop a Wellington car getting the 1NZ number on the side again. Everyone knows how commited the Young guns are in the teams racing environment and they will throw everthing at getting 1NZ on any W car and then head to Palmy to win back the teams crown. It wont effect them. ;D
