There will be a fairly lengthy update on this coming up, I want to send all technical stuff off to SNZ prior & there is some relevant info I'm still chasing so I'm sorry to say its a case of hurry up & wait. I will say though, everything Bill Martens from GM has said it would do has happened, we have achieved old school fun racing at a very affordable cost, & it looks as though even though we have used a 'new to superstock driver', and there are some handling issues to sort, we believe we are very much in the zone with compatability, which is what this trial at this point is all about. Thankyou, BL

Awesome its great to get these updates. I there a link anywhere we can see to the engine specs, or crate option that you guys are using? Be great to see a little more engine detail onwhere these come from.
Also been meaning to ask (but keep forgetting) how does it go for weight with the big chev in there?

Hi, the engine we ended up using is the GM602 rather then the GM604 what I originally wanted to use. We felt the 604 was a bit big spec wise in the end. If you google GM602 you will get heaps of info, but in a nut shell the factory specs for the GM602 are 350hp & 390ft/ibs torque using the specified holley carb. We ended up using the quick fuel carb equivallent which uses all the same jets as the Holley, but costs less. The carb will end up being part of the spec. Roughly $5500 - $6000 NZD for the engine as advertised from GM landed in NZ, then another $2500 odd to complete it (depending on exchange rates, how you go about getting it, etc.) to give an idea. I'm told with annual valve spring changes, regular oil changes etc, then you should get several years out of it before you need to change the rings. Obviously, we need to do some race mileage to verify this. I wasn't able to get to Palmy on Saturday night but I spoke with Paul D yesterday & I could see the grin on his face over the phone. I think he liked it by the sounds of it (understatement). I did get to part of the Wanganui meeting the following day, not sure how the full meeting went for them but it seemed to be getting to know its way around after realising the concrete wall isn't as good at steering the car as the steering wheel . There weren't too many supers at Wanganui unfortunately to yardstick against, but got some valuable seat time. As mentioned, more full detailed report of technical stuff to follow, so just hurry up & wait. Cheers, BL

Hello everyone, i am one of the owners of the car and very proud of Mikes acheivements over the past weekend. This does help when the car has no issues with the gearbox which i personally was over! A huge thankyou to Paul D for all his time, expertise and advise. Mike and Paul had the car huming at Palmy and it looked great out there. On Sunday we went to wangas and had a blast out there with the stockcars, first race yes it was very wet and sliding everywhere but so was everyone else, Mike soon found his way after that, having some great laptimes and a one race i believe he was faster than Adam Joblin..... with some new gear sets in and Mike some more seat time as thats the only way to get to grips with the car i couldnt be anymore prouder

Yes thats it. Not sure how the toyota would cope. I suspect you may need to get some oil cooling going on otherwise you might end up in tears. Ford 9" more the way to go I think - heaps of ratios available & plenty strong enough. The engine weighs little more (if anything) then what it was as 77P. The beauty of the long long torque curve is that it allows forgiveness in a poor gearing selection, even though its down in horsepower. GM recomend not to race above 5700 RPM for longevity, & it basically stops revving at 6500 anyway. The power drops off pretty dramatically from 5800 RPM, so theres not much point taking it past that. Cheers, BL P.S. Hope you're not too upset at the friendly dig there Mike, one thing as a driver you will find out is you get to take all sorts of critisisms from all sorts of experts, the ones you'll get 'p'ed off the most about are the ones from the anonymous fairies. You're actually going bloody well & doing this trial very proud mate.

my turn to comment lol..............saturday was spent all day in the shed with paul setting the car up .wice he went over it as wasnt happy with first set up ,saturday was the best meeting in palmy so far with the car, except first race as track was wayyyyyyyyyy to wet .was good to compare mike and pauls drivng styles etc, actualy pauls fastest lap time was only .05 faster than mikes. sunday we decided to give the car a wash and head to wanganui. first race no good track to wet and due to little mishap hitting the wall a few times broken pan hard bar in front welded mount back on and next 4 races mike had the car humming.wasnt to far behind adam joblin every race, think was the4th race mike was leading.until went past a palmy stockar (lapping him who decided to turn mike around. last race came in 2nd again jst behind adam joblin. so over all we are having a ball in the car with out having to re mortgage the house to the max to go super stock racing on a note was talking to couple guys involved with couple wanganui superstocks ,the cars werent there be cause of engine failures .hence why no wangaui supers to run with on sunday Results:- Race One: 1. 15V Kyle Heibner. 2. 24W Scott McIntosh. 3. 11S Brody Kelsen. 4. 9V Wayne Pointon. 5. 52V Francis Potaka. 6. 511P Mike Gaskin (S/S). Fastest Lap: 511P 21.7993 sec. Race Two: 1. 52P Adam Joblin (S/S). 2. 511P. 3. 51V Sam Doyle. 4. 15V. 5. 223P Kyle Taylor. 6. 52V. Fastest Lap: 52P 17.5331 sec. Feature: 1. 15V. 2. 511P. 3. 24V Wayne Wright. 4. 52P. 5. 24W. 6. 52V. Fastest Lap: 511P 16.9136 sec. Grand Slam: 1. 24V. 2. 9V. 3. 52P. 4. 511P. 5. 15V. 6. 24W. Fastest Lap: 52P 17.2501 sec. Extra Race: 1. 52P. 2. 511P. 3. 24W. 4. 223P. 5. 24V. 6. 52V. Fastest Lap: 52P 17.0840 sec.

Here's a short clip with Paul Demanser at the helm, sorry about the blurry shakey nature of the film, I'm a novice.
