I don't think any North Islander that has seen the Titans in action will be at all shocked to see them perform exceptionally well. They have had soon good wins that the majority of the current team have been involved with.

I wrote this in the top 4 discussion page but may be better here. Is it fair that winning 2 races (ie beating both teams in your group) doesn't guarantee a place in the semis if you haven't earnt enough points in both those races you have won? I fail to see how a team who wins both group races isn't the best team in their group and is able to miss out when both teams they have beaten race & the winner of this race may earn more points & thus the path to qualify to the semis. In theory a team who doesn't lose a race all weekend may only be able to achieve a placing as high as 3rd whereas a team they may have beaten the night before is racing for 1st (but are they the better team?).I believe a system like the basketball comps. whereby if you win a higher percentage of games over your opposition within your group sees you progess, with the current points system only being used if there is an even number of wins (1 win each in group) to act as a tie breaker. Should apply for the Superstock teams aswell I believe.

I agree. That happened at huntly when the Allycats won both their races but failed to make it through to the next round, mainly because they mauled the first team they faced so badly that the third team had a walkover. ( I think that makes sence)
The points should be 100 for the win with the rest of the places total 80 points, but only the loosing team gets the points. That way if you win both races you get 200 points, one win and one loss the max you can get is 180. That seems fairer to me.

But now if you win both races you still have 200 points and if you only concentrate on winning and not also making sure you get the points for other positions you have put yourself at risk of missing out. It brings another dimension to the racing for all involved. Keep the way it is and make drivers use what they have between the ears and behind the eyes a bit more

Auckland are not the only ones to suffer Huntly suffered the same thing when I was teams racing with the Raiders, we have had a discussion on this matter last year. We said if you have two wins then you should make the final four, then the rest get done on points, they came back to us with if you have four teams with two wins each then what? I said then that's your top four, you then take the top points scorer and they race fourth on points then second races third, we were then told no they wanted to leave it as it is and like Ugmo said make the drivers think about what they are doing. I know the year it happened to us we had beaten HB and they got into the top four and went on to win the Waikato Teams.

My thoughts are that it should stay the same as it actually makes it a TEAMS race where the whole teams input is vital. First past the post is great and simplistic for the crowds understanding of the race
