What's the possiblity of having an american team competing? i reckon the teams champs could have a huge success could even raise the sport even more especially with the american media/market,etc. Yes i understand it would be hard just like with the GB Lions what do you think it would be a success or a bust

Who knows, it may work, it may not. But by judging on some of the comments that I see on nz speedway videos on youtube, many americans don't see the point in our 'style' of the racing. I mean, you can't get past a good stockcar or superstock race!

I mean, you can't get past a good stockcar or superstock race! That's why it would be good to get a few cars over there and put on a few shows over there so they get an understanding of our racing. I no the cost side would be a major issue tho. Dreams are free

imagine the lawsuits after someone breaks a nail, or a driver like Allard and co, get injured (heaven forbid) and can't go and race in America. That cost alone would candidate that an American team is not really possible.

Dunno about not possible - difficult maybe.
Americans may not understand the sport wholly - but they can get the idea after all they do this dont they?
this is teams demolition derby - laps are counted and there are only two teams on the track at a time...

I think the main issue with taking a couple of cars over to America, is that I don't think they have any tracks that would be suitable. You need a dirt track with a solid concrete wall thats thick enough to take the repeated impacts, and the wire ropes and catch fence to match. To the best of my knowledge, they don't have any tracks with that combination.

Could be a large market to break into if you could get them interested? I thought the idea of teams champs being recorded by ESPN a couple of years ago was a good idea but did this fall through?

Not all Americans don't get the idea of our style of racing, Ricky Logan has driven the track superstock in palmy before & it sounded like he would have been keen to try teams if it ever became a possibility

That cost alone would candidate that an American team is not really possible. They do have figure 8 racing in the States, so they must get around the lawsuits somehow. And there are plenty of T Bones in those races. Some of the cars are Late Models (Like a wingless Modified) and have Nascar engines, so they can boogie along and they dont have any extra bars or anything around the cars like Stockcars have. Im sure if Superstocks were shown off in the more Redneck places that hold these types of events then there might be a chance of the locals getting interested.

The promoters still face hefty insurance bills for the figure 8 races and even the run of the mill. I was talking to american friend nad introuduce them 'kiwi stockcars' awhile ago. He was saying its kinda like 'american outlaw racing', and having google that type of racing, I dont agree with him. but hey i am not that clued up on it so cant really comment. I cant see us getting any big name drivers, simply because team owners wont want to risk their drivers getting injured and unable to race. Thats not to say we cant get some random rednecks and strap them in and point them in the right direction.

Redneck bootleggers racing each other (and the police) on their moonshine runs. lol
