It's probably not as easy to get a good field of Stockcars into WP on a Friday night as it is on the Saturday night, Auckland being Auckland and the traffic being what it is. The drivers can't just knock of work at 5pm like the fans can, and head across town to race - it's at least a half day off work for them, and they're only the support show. With less teams races (5) on the second night than the first (7), they'll be a good addition to the Saturday night program with I suspect a lot more cars than if they were on the Friday schedule. Let's do it on the terracotta, Barry B There were 30 Auckland Stockcars entered for the Northern Rumble just one week ago. How many Six Shooters reside in the Auckland area? If I were promoting this event I would have put Stockcars on both nights and run the City of Sails Stockcar Classic (if it hasn't been run already this season). Format would have been 6 heats over two nights with each driver dropping their worst 2 heats after heat 5. This would allow for a couple of DNF's and for those drivers just attending night 2 to have some purpose to their racing (albeit they would be highly unlikely to win). Surely we could have got a field of 20 or so local cars + visitors on Friday? We are looking at a $30 meeting with 35 Superstocks, and 20 Saloons/Six Shooters in the pits. There's a fair chance you could fire a cannon into the pit area Friday Night and not hit anything. I'd rather watch a Youth Ministock Pole Shuffle than half a field of Six Shooters. And we wonder why spectators don't make the effort to turn up.

without coming to blows Percy,( as you can see i have even given your post a thumbs up) you would probably have been one of the first to tell us all how poor it is that auckland only managed to get 20 cars to the city of sails event...lol... but its a good idea all the same...why didnt you benefit them with this flash of brilliance before the fact?...anyway ..it seems to me if the call was put out that stocks will run on friday...i reckon you'd get heaps who would like a run in front of a decent crowd for a change, others would come for a chance to drive others to help the club..its only tuesday..they've added classes later than this before i reckon, 10 outta 10 for a shytt hot idea, a lot fewer in the timing dept...
this is a serious offer to WP, i'll put up $300.. you go find a couple more and you got a prize pool for stockcars for friday night.. call it The Knuckle Draggers Ball.

A Youth Ministock Pole Shuffle.........don't give them ideas Percy!!! Barry B Hope you were referring to the promoters not the kids. With 4 roll overs in the one race at MIP the other week, the kids hardly need any encouragement to have a go (and I've had all the Ministock repairing I can handle for one season thanks). And in response to the earlier comment about the 6-Shooters, I'll reserve my opinion regarding their entertainment value but don't call them slow. On the WP track in it's current state (dry and slick), the quicker 6-Shooters are lapping in similar times to Super Saloons (I've checked the Dorain sheets several times to make sure I wasn't seeing things)

Vazey has just been added to the rebels this weekend. That will hamper the chances of an 8th team you'd think

The Rotorua Rebels have been named for Auckland, they are: Bryce Steiner, Lance Ashton, Lance Aldridge, Richard Mahy and Jason Redienger. 6th driver TBC Paul Vazey in Rebels!? So who have they lost from the original line up? Shame if an 8th team hasn't been able to be pulled together, but hey, 7 is better than 6! :-) Weather is going to be fine, so bring it on!

44r has been dropped. The car showed flashes of being on the pace at Friday night's club night but reliability would still appear to be a worry. Last seen on the hook back to the pits. Jason Reidinger is now the 6th driver.

Why is it so hard to get 9 teams up for this event, given the same promoter???.Is it simply the distance and time away from work??... After being at Palmie and watching the best teams racing for sometime with upsets a plenty...... this was a mouth watering event with revenge for 3 of the top teams having a off night/s and the possibly changing of the guard ..... I was so looking forward to seeing if the under dogs doing it again showing they are lifting their game.... Its a pity the warriors aren't coming and sadden by the cantab's as well....

888hsv , It seems to be the same problem every year . For a start the event is very poorly advertised and one would tend to wonder if there is a lot of organisation put into running it beforehand . As Waikaraka Park have proven in the past this can be one hell of an entertaining meeting , not up to the standard of the Palmy Teams but surely a meeting that fans were pleased they attended. This is my opinion and mine only , but I feel that the location [ Auckland ] has a lot to do with getting enough teams and drivers together . Its one hell of a haul and financial costs to get there for some , I take my hat off to Nelson for their dedication . Some may say , if Nelson can do it then so can others but some other teams may not have the sponsorship / funds to do so...

The costs of paying the teams to get there, and not the chance to fit the same sized crowd in as Palmy to pay for it either. Auckland did stage the first 12-teams format meeting however, and did even have 14 teams one year from memory? I'd love to think that one day we'll once again see teams from the Far North, Huntly, Kihikihi, Gisborne and the likes (a fantasy perhaps?), and that somehow Auckland could get back to a 12 team format once again. If you took the 12 teams from Palmy, minus the Poms obviously, that means just one more team to replace them. And Palmy did run 13 teams only one year ago, so there was 12 teams without the Poms, although only 7 made it to Auckland. Making 12 teams in Auckland a viable financial proposition for the promotion is not an easy task however......

I take my hat off to Nelson and applaud their efforts to make it to Auckland every year. As we all know they have the furtherest distance to travel including a ferry trip across Cook Strait but year in year out they are there. The committment is greatly appreciated by everyone who attends in Auckland. Thanks Nelson Tigers!

Please excuse my lack of knowledge , if Vasey runs out of Auckland but is racing at the weekend for the Rebels. How does that work. Does he not have to race for a the team he is signed to

Does he not have to race for a the team he is signed to If you mean race for the track he is registered to then the answer is no. This is not a SNZ championship so he can race for any team
