You guys love to mock Percy, but ask yourselves this question; why, except for the big meetings, are crowd numbers down this year across the country? Is the quality of our product declining? Or are we charging too much for it? Or both?
Or is it now that things are getting better economically people aren't looking to speedway as a cheap option night out anymore? While true fans might not think these meetings offer good value, perhaps the take it or leave it type have been using our sport as a comparibly cheap night out while times have been tough, artificially bolstering crowd numbers, but are now a little more flush as times get better and are spending their discretionary dollars elsewhere?
Whatever the case, mocking another contributor to this board without offering anything but a good mocking, shows no understanding of the issue raised at all. I'm glad you lot aren't trying to encourage me to come along and spend some of my hard earned. at your place. You'd be waiting awhile.
Written from a STILL wet Rotovegas.
Let's do it on the terracotta,

I enjoy Gregobro and Percy's reviews. When reading their reviews over meetings I had attended, I can say that provide a good and fair detail of events. It also helps to read poor reviews when I didn't get to make it Money saved for another meeting!

This meeting was to of been held on the 5th April but the promoters decided to shift it to a Easter meeting at short notice as the 5th clashed with the bikes at W/S. The northern Ak super saloon brigade had already committed to the Kaikohe Easter Stampede. hence the poor turn out of supers for the Webster/Glen Turner Memorial. The SNZ promoters need to seriously look at the money they pay competitors as a weekend at some CTRA tracks can earn the competitors more $'s than a season on their home track, and the $'s are what repair and run their vehicles. Thank god for the SSCAR series on SNZ tracks. Agree with BB don't fire shots at Percy, he is one of if not the best reporters of meetings and not afraid to tread on toes of promoters or competitors , but his reporting is always factual and unbias hence easy target for one eyed supporters to fire arrows at. Lets hope the King Of The Park meeting can attract good numbers of competitors and spectators to end the season on a high.

I for one would like to Know why percy bothers to go to speedway at all. He has a real passion for good speedway and wants Speedway to be more successful. Simple really.

Let's do it on the terracotta, Barry B In this day and age ,if you have noticed by your contribution to the sport ,and i must say it has been enormous amount of ones life ,,there has been a significant change in promotion for some speedways and not for others ,.Experience shows and in this case ,one would rather go to Rotovegas ,simply as it would of been money well spent ,but the weather played its part ,and it seems water rats had a ball . To spend $25 plus for us to travel ,at the end of the day ,we chose to go ,saw a schoolboys promoted show ,had its moments ,but hey ,why moan ,it was ,advertised on here the numbers in classes ,they did there best ,and i wonder if poor old Percy tried some of Macgors favourite Hot dogs . By the way Barry you would be welcome here anyday ,and night long as you dont snore like in Skinnys shed a few years ago .

You guys do understand that corporates pay real big coin for market research, mystery shoppers, focus groups etc to hear exactly what the likes of Percy tells clubs, tracks, promoters for free.
Mcdonalds says Ok we need to improve staff training and give better service Pizza Hut says Ok we need to reduce prices and provide value BP says OK we need to introduce a loyalty scheme Speedways say P!ss off if ya don't like it, we don't need your type around here anyway, We have done it this way for 40 years and by god we will continue to do it this way cause it works. Go and take your $$$ and spend it elsewhere you Negitive Nelly. Can't you see that a meeting that takes 5 hrs to run is much better value than a meeting thats all over in 3.5 hrs. In fact if we were to run a picture palace we would play the movie on half speed cause then it would take twice as long and ppl would see that as good value and we would be the busiest move theatre in town. What do ya mean your kids get bored watching 5 and 6 car fields till 11pm for the derby they came to watch to start. Slap em round the ears and tell them how lucky they are we are putting on this show for them.

I for one would like to Know why percy bothers to go to speedway at all. He has a real passion for good speedway and wants Speedway to be more successful. Simple really. Gordons response is oh so true - as was Percy's comments at least we know from past experiance that some tracks/promotors have taken note of what is said on here and made required changes. Bruce is one who has listened in the past when things got a little sloppy at Palmy. This meeting was always one to rate in advance however was always competing with Rotorua and HB that historically have attracted the travelling drivers and spectators. would have thought this meeting would have been better to have been held on the Friday night of Easter. as for the running of the meeting, too much time waisted in gridding up the open wheelers, too many laps done during pole shuffle, at least 1-2 extra laps per time was done compared to what I have seen done elesewhere. even superstocks given extra lap before grid up, all lost time. a few other strange things but above makes the point. Those in control of the meeting may have had their reasons for all of this however it just seemed to add extra time that could have been avoided, especailly when battling with threatening weather as well. Looking back to last Sat night at Speedfest, we did not end up with the best of the best however the meeting ran like clockwork so kept all interested and that was the key difference between the two meetings. Overall for me, while above applied, attending wacky park was option C so at least I got some speedway in, met some great people and therefore overall a good night, just lacking that intensity from a meeting that should have clicked better.
