I thought the night took awhile to get going but once it did it was a decent show infront of a mediocre crowd..
N.I Modifieds were won by 11a Jamie Fox from 2nz Mike Gourley and 67s Richard Pierce. Somehow 9a Bryce McCall got the pole for the 25 lap feature despite being 2 points behind 11a and 67s by my reckoning. On the third attempt McCall got the jump on Fox and led until drifting wide on turn 4 on around lap 8, allowing Fox up the inside and into the lead. McCall would later retire as the 2nz of Gourley got up the inside of 31s Farron Lowry and Pierce.
Hoping someone can confirm something for me. 78a Ray Chatfield had an incident at the start of heat 2 with 97a Rick MacKay. MacKay retired to the infield and was then followed to the grass by Chatfield. From my angle it looked like Chatfield drove into the side of MacKay in the middle of the infield! Chatfield was allowed to start the feature so I can only assume I had a bad angle and saw something that didn't happen. Can someone confirm?
A poor field of 10 Streetstocks was set alight by the antics of 89a Jono Lauder. With 3nz Chris Singleton otherwise unhampered, Lauder took it upon himself to ensure the 3nz wasn't going to finish first. The action of Lauder allowed the 51a entry to win by a point, though my unofficial lap scoring had a tie between 51a and 3nz. Wasn't really concentrating though so the officials probably had it right. A huge hit in turn 3/4 one of the biggest Streetstock hits we've seen at Waikaraka for many a year.
The 7-car Superstocks field did what 7 car Superstock fields do. A bit of bumper in heat 3 the feature of a docile contribution to the entertainment. The Saloons/Supers punched above their weight courtesy of 3nz Nigel Ross putting on a show.
Finally a 37-car Stockcar field produced plenty of action. Race 1 was manic and featured a rollover on the first corner for 24a. There were cars going everywhere and I missed a number of incidents such was the action. Truth be known there were too many cars but I doubt many in the grandstands were complaining. Heat 2 and the Auckland cars went on the offensive, launching a pre-emptive attack against the Huntly contingent. Amongst a series of hits 88h Justin Hutchby lost a wheel and got parked up the back straight wall after being in the wrong place at the wrong time. 51h Alaistar Van Amsterdam was another to taste the concrete courtesy of a late race hit by 57a Aidan Eustace.
The third heat was pretty epic with the Huntly cars giving as good as they got in heat 2. There were no shortage of protagonists on either side of the battle. The race though will be remembered for an extraordinary hit at the end. Fan favourite 42h Lance Gribble was put up, and then on top of the turn 3/4 wall! The Gribbster left perched as the leaders crossed to finish the race.
When all was said and done 741a Craig Chatfield was the winner. Don't know the remaining placings as I didn't hear them over the p.a.
After 3 hours we were on our way out of the stadium. It was probably a $20 show rather than the actual $25 entry but a decent night at the Park nonetheless.

thought it was a good night, stockcars were epic, streetstocks and superstocks in my mind were fairly average, slightly greater numbers would have made a big difference. for some reason the modifies didn't hold my attention the way they should have. saloons were good, nigel ross was great and for the first time ( for me ) steve Williams really impressed. 10a stockcar chanelle Gordon was a very lucky lady in race 2 when she re-entered the track , not to get tboned by the pack, that would have been nasty. still, I enjoyed my night.

Foxy was top points scorer and chose to leave from grid 2.

I am sure his brakes must have been damaged in the original incident. He wouldn't do something like that on purpose! :-). :-)

Yeah that is crap, I've had it happen to me when I was stuck on the wall once. The track crew hooked a rope on and rolled me which demo'd a body whereas I had no damage prior.
Its a bit tough as they are all volunteers but they've had enough practice now you'd think. (especially last night!)
