Yeah that is crap, I've had it happen to me when I was stuck on the wall once. The track crew hooked a rope on and rolled me which demo'd a body whereas I had no damage prior. Its a bit tough as they are all volunteers but they've had enough practice now you'd think. (especially last night!) yeah its tough I know they all volunteers and I have done time on infield crew at waikaraka and huntly, what was frustrating was they would not listen to sugestions to use both tow trucks, had good look at body before it got pulled off and after and lets just say its tough pill to swaollow

yes indeed macgor! my fav is still tony clay at meremere number 5 charger. I agree with you gribbs the damage to cars getting righted is an issue, they are not only stockcars that just break fibreglass! for the intension to class I feel for the drivers. it is not only the bodies that break the cars do too. in sprintcars and superstocks saloons etc weeks later something has broken after a big crash or righting issue. not saying the righting is prime cause but lets help the competitor vs time frame to maybe solve this. PLEASE DONT TELL ME TO TRY IT MYSELF! is there a way?(gribbs im sure feels honoured! maybe proud?)

An old driver I know {ex super saloon - current prodo} said they have always caused more damage to cars than the crashes - he hasnt raced at wacky park for a few years now why do they only ever use tow trucks? Its not like they cant get a tractor and driver to come and help.

Tow Trucks , I guess they are use to dealing with wrecking yards/ wrecking cars . Obviously they never took any notice of the last lot of criticism. Just waiting on the reply of [ why don't you try and do it yourself ]

Why don't you try doing it yourself.................... lol.
You'd think with all those queen street farmers, there'd be some fancy tractors up there.

It's not even the fact it's tow trucks instead of tractors. They are just rip, sh!t and bust. Had they of used two tow trucks Gribbs' car would have been fine. But they just hooked up one truck and dragged it backwards, momentum did the rest. Had they attached the other truck to the front it would have slowed the transition from wall to ground. But no, that would be far too logical and take longer than 30 seconds.

I will look forward to the response to the letter I am writing to club

Pretty sure 37A Ash Wearing was 2nd and 242A Bernie Fox was 3rd Was a good meeting especially when the Huntly car (didn't see the number)was put on top of the wall Yeah that would be me 42H Once agai ill gripe, lack of a tractor , and I sustatained more damage getting bought off the wall than when I got put up there, especially lots of fibreglass repairs to a body that only had 2 cracks in it before it got taken down Well thats just No Good at all, I really feel for you Gibbs after your car was treated in this way, especially after all the help and advice you have given the WP recovery crew over the last few weeks on this board, It's just not good enough is it.

Have you given it a thought ,how your prized road car or 4x4 ends up in a decent crash ,or rolls over on a slippery road ,most tow, truck drivers land it back on its wheels ,ever so gently ,dont they Yeah right ,ask Gribbs hes a fireman i bet hes seen some not badly damaged cars get worse off by these blokes or girls . So a stockcar ,built for a bit of punishment ,that looks and costs a million dollars will need airbags to land on, once off the fence when handled by the roughnuts ,,or a tractor driven by Frances at Wacky Park ,gosh the Metalman will be out of business in no time .

It's all about unnecessary damage and costs being incurred, so people's comments about "they are built for it" etc aren't really relevant. Those people would be pissed if it was their gear being wrecked unnecessarily after the fact, and if they didn't, they have more money than brains.
Put it this way, If I walked up to your race vehicle and smashed a component in the pits or whatever, I bet you would have a few choice words for me, and perhaps even a spanner to wrap around my head - To me it may as well the same thing when the cars get damaged further by recovery personnel being either careless, or simply concentrating on being time efficient.
What happens when the lights are green between vehicles is a completely different matter, and "That's racing" applies!

Looking closely it appears a fair bit of body/wing damage was in the process of happening. Great shot , great spectacle. screen shot pc
