Just looking at doing the cage on the new stockcar in a few weeks and cant really remember the out come of the roll cages. Going by the rule book are we still allowed to use medium black pipe for the cage??
Thanks

your answer is in your question...
You say "new stockcar" (e) refers to all cages from this date so SCH 40 for your new cage

Read the whole thing, one part of the cage you can't use medium black and other part you can.
The main frame of the Rollcage must use one of the following:-
(i) ASTM A106 Grade B Schedule 40 steel pipe (48.3 mm OD x 3.68mm WT). (ii) API 5L Line Pipe Schedule 40 steel pipe (48.3mm OD x 3.68mm WT).
T12-2-6 ROLLCAGE BRACING MINIMUM STEEL SPECIFICATIONS
(i) 42mm OD x 3.2 mm wall thickness medium black pipe. (ii) 40mm x 40mm x 3mm RHS.

As I read it you can use the medium black steel pipe. The sch 40 was for the 2013/14 season not 2014/15. "For rollcages built new (and CVI inspected) for the 2013/14 season"

One of the reasons I ask is that a engineer has said to me not to use it as its not meant to be bent and that they buy bends to add in when ever they need to go around corners. Has anyone got the "why this sch 40 is better" info I can read or show my engineer?? Not trying to stir anything up here just wanting info for my new car as we up to the roll cage soon. Thanks

www.facebook.com/judge10tpt/photos_alli used Sch40 for all the main bends and stuff the rear cross and back braces was 42OD black all my bends were sized at 45.3 and above when finished so well within the 10% deformation we achieved this by placing cardboard in the bender at the same time as the pipe to allow the pipe to move free because of the coating the Sch40 has (thin cardboard, like off the rices boxes) we did this at home with a real good bender from a friend and used the 50mm bend attachment hope this helps cheers Jason

All the cars I have built have Sch 40 for the bars that are bent, as per TMac's design. The Silver Bullet was built with Sch40 and has bumped the wall a few times in its 20 years and still going strong. 581 RW2 also has a Tmac cage on it from Sch40 I beleive. As far as I'm aware all TMac's flat chassis where supposed to have Sch40 also. There's a few years of racing in that mix of cars most of which had all teams raced as well.
You must use "Bramley" NZ made formers the cheap china made ones are crap!
