Raining at mo & looking solid grey so I'd say it's pretty doubtful that tonight will be on unless the weather clears for the rest of the day

90% of the stockcars have loaded up but they still haven't called the meeting off yet. No racing so far just Derby cars wheel packing if you can call it that

Dare I say it, another attempt to run a speedway meeting when the rain is looking very much like winning the battle. This must be the third or fourth time that I can recall these promoters doing the same thing. Is there any wonder we choose to stay away

Is there any wonder we choose to stay away Given that it COULD rain on any given night we may as well can the whole thing at every track. If you don't wanna go then don't but FFS don't deny others the chance to make the same choice.

What would you be saying if the meeting was able to go ahead? ??, sounds like you might have a problem with PN Speedway or is it every track that try to put a meeting on that there might be a hint of rain?

Ok let's sort out a few misconceptions.
Firstly, I don't hate Bruce Robertson. I don't even know him, I am sure that with Bruce been around speedway as long as I have been spectating, which would be almost fourty years one should appreciate the untold hours he has poured into providing entertainment for many thousands of people over many years. Notwithstanding this from a spectators viewpoint I do disagree with the logic around attempting to run three or four hours of entertainment when the odds are stacked against you from Mother Nature. From a personal perspective, my family and I have travelled to almost every speedway track in the country over the years and have witnessed some fantastic racing and some really well organised meetings and without a doubt Rotorua, in my opinion, is head and shoulders above any other track and has been for some time. Coming from a farming background, I understand the weather predictions can also be wayward but in the cases that I refer to, where Palmy has attempted to run meetings, there has never been any doubt that the meeting would be disrupted by the weather. My family and I travel thousands of kilometres every speedway season and yes it is our choice but it is extremely frustrating when you travel 2 hours one way to attend a meeting, having previously trolled through social media to ascertain that the meeting is still on, only to get to Palmy find the weather is dodgy, and has been dodgy all day, only to buy a hamburger and head 2 hours home without seeing anything. Additionally more than once this year we have sat in the car park till the last minute before paying top dollar to enter Manawatu Arena only to get three or four races in and then the pin has been pulled after the obligatory races where a refund no longer applies. I understand that the promoters are keen to delay the dreaded cancellation call for as long as possible as I am sure there would be some sunk costs that would be unrecoverable when the meeting is canned but I just wish that these promoters could sometimes consider that there are speedway enthusiasts that come from outside the Manawatu to watch especially super stocks and get frustrated when the inevitable call to cancel the meeting could be made a little earlier. I hope that some you now understand where I am coming from Regards Barry ,

Fair enough, but if I can just make a point or 2. I also travel (from Porirua, so around 90 to 120 mins to Palmy altho normally a bit quicker home with less traffic) and one of the reasons I will travel there even If the weather is a bit dodgy is that they do all and more they can to run every time, which seems to be the exact same reason you won't travel there if the weather is dodgy. Again that's fair enough.... your choice. My 2nd point would be that you would struggle to find a single occasion when Palmy, under the current promoters, have raced to get the required # of races thru then called it off with no rain out pass. I can think of several occasions over the years that Bruce has been back there where they have given rain outpasses when in all honesty if I was the promoter I wouldn't have done so including 2 occasions when over 3/4 of the meeting had been run and passes were issued. I certainly don't agree with everything Bruce and the Palmy team do, particularly around schedules and race night logistics but the one thing I don't think you could ever accuse him (them) of is not giving fans or racers a fair go.
