Titoto once you have been to Shanty Town head down to Hokitika - not far away & try the new tree top walkway. Looks to be pretty good. And then theres the touristy jade shops in Hokitika as well

My favourite is a walk in a national park that is ridiculously close to town, and is mentioned above. Point Elizabeth has a short incline at the start then takes you through lovely coastal natural bush, then des out on the point with amazing views that regularly feature seals playing. 2 Kms to the point and back, sand shoes all good and probably 40 mins at a nice leisurely pace with a sit down at the point. This is 2 mins drive north of the speedway track so is nice and easy to find
Had a good working bee this morning track looked good, and the heavy morning downpour that was predicted has been and gone, and drained away. The perks of hVing a track on A river bed!
We have one more shower coming, but what it didn't say in the forecast was that we would get sun in between the thunder. In addition most of the rain has stayed close to the hills which is great for the track.
Think the entry list is now up to 140 cars. Every class Han over 20 cars expcept the mods who look like 10 with any luck. Will be a great day tomorrow.

Well the king of the coast went ahead in awesome weather with massive fields in all classes. Was a great day.
A huge thanks to the volunteers and the paid staff who make the day run as smoothly as it does.
Another big thanks to the drivers and crews for coming over. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves, and the first after match inthe club rooms was a big success, with improvements too come.
Hopefully we will see some footage and pictures in this thread shortly.
A big thanks to the fans as well for being so supportive. I hope you too joyed the day!

Yep - we enjoyed the day - good weather, fields and racing. We had a great view of the Grey river hitting the incoming tide - I heard there's some crazy coasters in their fishing boats that try to navigate that when it's rough! The track is shaped similar to Woodfordglen and considering the amount of rain in Greymouth recently the I thought the preparation was first class. I was impressed by the flag marshall - the young fella who was running around all day without missing a beat, sorting car positions during stoppages. Man - give that young man a medal or a starting position in the 1500 m athletics NZ Commonwealth Games team he'd win it! What's his name? We brought the steak sandwiches over in the Westpac tent to support the Grizzlies to Rotorua for the teams! Question: Of the GM stockcars on the track Sat - how many of them are GM stockcar team members? Reason I ask is there was a good calibre of GM stockcar machinery on display and if that's the team members then they will a hard team to beat come teams champs time! All the best for the coming season and all the best for the fundraising to get to Rotorua. See you at Rotorua and KOC next year:
