It may be the case of off season boredom but there is many rumours doing the rounds that the 3xNZ champ,80/81, 81/82, 01/02 is making a return in a ex Fletcher chassis. The rumour mill has it that rotary power has been looked at, and some typical Blondie engineering being carried out. Can somebody put these rumours to rest as fact or fiction. It would be good to see the legend back, what ever he peddles it is at the front of the pack, eg standard 10, rover, wedge chassis or corvette [ now 96a].

Sounds like the rumours are true, he has been doing the rounds looking for bits and pieces, whether it comes to fruition, time will tell !!!

All going to plan, there will be a radical new Super Saloon next season.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Blondie Chamberlain and he told me of his plans to build a new Super Saloon for him to race.
The car will be built around a John Godfrey (USA) built Stealth Sprintcar chassis and will be powered by a supercharged Mazda rotary engine
Blondie also told me about his first Anglia saloon car that he did alright in leaving it in 2nd, and another car that he won about 40 races in a row at Wanganui, and how he did 176mph in a Sprintcar and that he has a desire to go for the World Record around 200mph...

There is a full story on the return of Blondie in the July issue of the dirt track mag. Chassis is the ex Merv Julian Modified, powered by supercharged Mazda and hitting the scales at 800kg. Reason for return, to get another 1NZ title to go one better than TC. No sponsorship, funded from his pension[ yes now 65 ]. But as we know Blondie not a man for buying expensive parts.
