The Bay of Plenty ENZED Jetsprints has taken the title of New Zealand's Best Emerging Event at the New Zealand Association of Event Professionals Awards held in Christchurch tonight.
One of five finalists, the inaugural Baypark Stadium Jetsprints was up against the NRL Auckland Nines, the Wellington Jazz Festival, Christchurch's Festival of Transitional Architecture and Manukau's Eye on Nature event.
Bay of Plenty Jetsprints has won the right to host the event again next year after 15,000 spectators turned out to watch the world's first V8 Jetsprints held inside a stadium arena.

Okay, a new week and a new promotion at BP by week end! Only a handful of contenders with something old, something bold and an opportunity never to be repeated. Guess we'll know soon enough!
I confess to being somewhat on edge. If they don't get it right this time, then I'm stuffed. BP will never be what it could be in my time! But hey, perhaps, maybe - our $250,000.00 Board of Directors just might make a decision with their eyes open, brains engaged and any conflicts disclosed.

Thanks Murray for your positive input in keeping us informed to the best of your knowledge I'm sure most readers here appreciate the time you spend passing on to us information otherwise we would be denied.Don't be deterred by the 2 pitbulls. Communication input from you and BB has been the difference between people attending Baypark or not. Some tracks have great PR and some don't. I can only hope that the new person at the helm will have the total support of the Club and all the competitors. Whether a Promoter in their own right or an employee of Bay Venues they will have a very difficult task ahead due to a small time frame before season opening and the fact a facility such as Baypark has only the NI Midget title will mean some imagination required to invent some crowd pulling events besides fireworks. And also the track prep and getting the red clay composition correct is a big ask.

I would love to see more cars on the track at one time....maybe a few sunday afternoon meetings where all stockcars are invited, mixed grade racing, 25 lap races, supers off the back of the stockcars, superstock on stockcar contact, run streetstock rules, basically push and go, superstock on superstock contact as normal, stockcar on superstock normal rules apply. Yes sometimes it will be hard to figure out who did what but I don't envisage the speeds getting up to high with the track full.....we got too regulated, we made so many rules we lost the scramble effect, once in a while we need to drop snz rules and just play stockcars...like at the beginning. people loved it and came in droves to sit back, relax and watch it unfold..
Run super saloons and saloons together, if they are super they'll eventually get past, give the sprintcars a chance to show how quick they really are and run sprints with mods, 2 races in one.....sprint cars off the back ... now theres nine really exciting races, that's the core of your meeting and for twenty bucks I would be there.

Mosen and Buckley, Ron Dixon missed out, is what i hear. If that's the case then that is the outcome I had decided might just be the best way forward for Baypark. The ability to work classes between two tracks has got to be a plus factor. I bet there will be some angst along the way though.

Mosen and Buckley, Ron Dixon missed out, is what i hear. I've heard the same........but I've also heard of at least one other name as being successful in their bid as well. Not only that, but that a decision is yet to be reached and is still a wee ways off. Two of those cannot be correct, let alone all three. Barry B
