Thanks Petrolfumes. Not sure who it was but i think Ak were running 1st & 2nd at the time. Might have given the Alleycats enough points to make the semis at the time. Would b interesting to see the video. Cheers

To late for videos now, they can be edited (add or delete what you want people to see-believe) That's why the ref's have to make the call there and then.

Whomever made the call to start the meeting at 5pm is a borderline genius.
Tonight could easily have gone horribly wrong but the brains were switched on. That is with the exception of the tractor drivers who insisted on towing Dan Corin's wrecked Saloon to the pits whilst we all waited and the rain came ever closer. I think Red just about blew a heart valve.
But it worked out in the end and we got to see the final run in satisfactory conditions and the conclusion of the exciting Waikato Saloon Champs.
Well done Huntly on the running of tonight's meeting.
Now for next week Huntly is running unopposed in the upper North Island. So let's put on a show. I see it's the Waikato Modified Title and the Waikato Production Saloon Champs. I'm greatly encouraged to see Superstocks on the schedule and I'm hoping they add Stockcars and Saloons to put on an unmissable show.

Thanks for the positive comments Percy. Just one point, please don't bag the infield crew, in this case the Tractor drivers, as we all work under instruction via radio. It was not their decision to take the saloon off...
Cheers - Owen

It was a saloon Waikato Champs as well so would think that would have swayed the decision to remove the car from the track

Mintie must of had a great night at Huntly in the crowd, finding the best keyboard writer of speedway topics in the sport ,giving the bloke a bag of candy treats ,from the factory across country . No doubt Red will have a breath of sire of relief

It was a saloon Waikato Champs as well so would think that would have swayed the decision to remove the car from the track That car likely won't be racing again for 2-3 weeks, let alone the final heat of the night, so that had nothing to do with the decision to carry it off when they did. I said it over the PA down there last night and I'll say it again here (which backs up Percy's comment). There were some great calls made by the WSSCC head honchos both leading up to and over the two nights, all of which helped the meeting be the success that it was where it could so easily been a disaster. Barry did I hear the commentary team mention the "R" word - not rain but retirement??? I hope not... you all did a great job over the weekend.

The only reason I posted no Rotorua cars finished is because that is what Paul Hickey announced at the Rotorua meeting. Nothing to do with keyboard racers to my knowledge. Not sure who was feeding him info.

Based on the information given by Macgor via Paul Hickey I congratulated Stratford for the victory however some scribers endulged in putting the boot in with discrediting words such as "the wheels have fallen off" and assumptions such as "might be something to do with why they have chosen to go with the 4 cars on track and 2 reserves format for the NZ's" Don't let their comments be a reflection of those Rascals supporters on this forum. We are proud of the success of our team and look forward to seeing you perform at the NZ teams at Paradise Valley. Please pass on our regards to the rest of the team!

I'll be at odds with you Tiroto , I don't think it was fair enough or well said (I edited out the foul language). In the old days the term was bench racers, these days it's keyboard racers. Whatever the term in use they still equate to fans and financiers of speedway. And the 'some scribes' you referred to Tiroto were actually 2 people only. One obviously a supporter of another team , one a known troll. From my experience it's quite a common thing for fans to stick the boot into a team when it doesn't win, agreed it's not pretty but the real sportsmen rise above it. I don't think Steves post was a good look for the Rascals one little bit and that's without considering the comments about the Ref. I support the Rascals , they have been going great but I'd rather not see this sort of reaction to a couple of negative posts that have little merit.

I concur with Macgors thoughts. I'll also point out for factual purposes that teams can't protest a result. DISPUTES R12-4-14 There is no protesting in teams racing, but Appeals are permitted panicstations 45m Paul Cressy won the Waikato Saloon Title. I did record points but must have had something wrong as I had some drivers 1 point different to what was announced by the commentary team.

Was that the Huntly commentary team or the one relayed through another track which has caused a bit of confusion with some results-finishers in this thread?

I have to say even being there I didn't realise any Rotorua cars finished - although it's likely something I saw but quickly forgot as with "first across the line" racing it doesn't really matter once the chequered flag has dropped on the winner (unless SNZ steps in). Both teams will be hard to beat come February, but I suspect the strongest challenger was not at Huntly... Barry B

Nice of you to say that about the Young Guns Barry. I do think that this seasons Stockcar Teams will have the highest number of genuine contenders for many a year.
