Just thought I would create a thread for the weekends racing just gone.
Huntly Friday Night
Standard Stock Teams. 8 teams and for me the stand outs were the Hawkes Bay and the Stratford team. There was a lot of expectations for my local Wanganui team, but have to say they had a bad weekend and might have to go back to the drawing board before the teams champs in Rotorua.
The teams racing was great and worth the admission price on it's own but have to say the support racing was very ordinary. Can't help wondering what sort of response the HSCC would have had if they decided to run super stocks on Friday night given that the bad weather was well and truly forecasted for Saturday.
Dissapointing for me was the un-announced decision (to my knowledge anyway) to move the start of the second nights racing to a 5pm start. Having made the decision to head to Rotorua for the Saturday night after the racing on Friday night, albeit that the weather would ultimately have a influence had I known earlier or even during Friday that the club were moving their start time, I probably would have stayed put in Hamilton.
Rotorua Saturday Night.
Got to see 1 full round of all classes before the rain curtailed the nights racing. The good field of super stocks were awesome and Steiny again proved to be a class above. I was impressed with the new 87M of David Elsworth.Has he gone back to a Hampton Tri Rail, is it his old car or is it something else. It was a pity we got rained off but sometimes one has to accept that the promoters for one reason or another take a gamble with the weather, sometimes it pays off and sometimes it bits them. Enough said on that as I have been scolded before commenting on the promoter's decisions to run a meeting when the weather forecast tells them that it probably is going to end in tears.
Wanganui Sunday
Back home and too my local on Sunday and I really enjoyed the sunday afternoon fix of racing. Disappointing to see a lack of visiting cars especially from the "P" considering there meeting had been canned the day before along with Stratford and Wellington. Good to see 46W turned up (and get rolled) and the young Humphries from Palmy. He drove very well and clean up the feature.
Overall had a great fix of weekend racing and now its back to reality. Hope we finally get into summer, the sileage and Hay gets done and the weekends can be spent watcing speedway.
Anyone else got any thoughts.
