There was no meeting programmed for Waikaraka this past weekend Roger. The BK Super Saloon series meeting the week before was canned due to rotten weather.

Roger you sound as though you have just woken up from winter Hibernation. To get your fix,I guess you'll be heading to Gisborne Friday and Napier Sat for the Burger King Super Saloon series? Certainly worth the travel.

Say hello to Judy for me, cheers.

It was a R100 running a 13B stage 3, John Le-Fevre the previous driver won the Australian Saloon Car Championship in it in 1977 at Waikaraka Park. The car was owned by Kevin Elmsly the Service Manager for Gulf Mazda North Shore who I purchased it off. I believe the car held the lap record at Waikaraka for 6 years, cheers.

Hi Roger, Didn't the Mazda head north to Kaikohe and Ray Jordan Hi Steve, yes the R100 went north but not to Ray Jordan it went to Marc Bullen & John Scollay from Kaikohe, where it went from there I do not know. I have just phoned Marc Bullen but he now works nights so won't catch up with him untill tomorrow. Will let you know if I find out anything, cheers.

Not alot to update at this stage, Engineer has been engaged to further assess the Grandstand. Waiting on answers to a bunch of questions we sent to Council. Quotes for temp toilets and grandstands being worked on by Council and Club. The more indepth report could take a while. Hope to have some more sold answers next week.

Hi All,
It's quite a process erecting a temp grandstand, building concent for a start and possibly a seismic report. Temp Toilet blocks are easier and we are working toward having the toilets in place this weekend if everything goes to plan (portaloos are already there). Grandstand will take longer but wheels are in motion. We can get 800 seats infront of the old granstand and from right up close and elevated the view will be brilliant. No timeline on the grandstand yet but if Council can pull some strings it could be done before Xmas. Best update available at this stage.

Dion You would of thought with Council condemning the grandstand that there wouldn't be any red tape just green lights to have a resolution asap!!!!! oh hang on Len Brown would rather spend money on a monorail in Auckland city!!!

Fingers crossed they don't have to drop it or if they do put a new one there with more seat capacity on 2 levels with great viewing..... Oh roof on the top please uncle Len maybe we need to chuck him in a Superstock, Super Saloon then the red tape will be gone!!!!!! Yeah right!!!!!

I doubt that it will be reopened - the whole top layer sways in the wind now and when they had the monster trucks there last they werent allowed in the top layer in case it fell {but were allowed underneath so it would fall on them?} the whole stands shook like a leaf whenever the trucks landed a jump. My family very quickly got the hell away from them that night!
