It might be a long bow to draw but the Match fixing law going through the house at the moment has had a small amendment How will the words that have been scratched out affect super/stockcars? A NZ Stockcar champs with the tAB offering a book on the event. Heat 3 is just about to be called to the dummy grid and the 18 wellington drivers who have made the finals have just come out of a meeting that they held to work out how to stop the two palmy drivers who made the finals but are both in the top 4 on points. The race starts and one of the wellington in that meeting turns right at the drop of the green and tips one of the palmy cars over. Now normally that would come under "Otherwise than for tactical or strategic sporting reasons" It seems if betting is offered on the event, that can't be a defense against match fixing, which is what, when all is said and done, was what the meeting between heats 2 and 3 was called to discuss. I'm not for a min suggesting that as the cars are driving off the track that the cops will be waiting with 18 sets of handcuffs, but whats to stop the bloke who got tipped over being a bit pissy about it and laying a complaint with the police the next day? again not saying anyone would BUT.... your thoughts?

My thoughts are: I think you have too much time on your hands.

The "KEY" thing to do, would be to lie and deny!

The rule book allows for the 18 Wellington cars to do this! For anyone wanting to bet at the TAB on this event the rule book is online and the can see the rules before they bet. I am sure the TAB themselves have seen the Rulebook and they still make betting available

You have it all wrong RamJam Provided the meeting you are talking about was not called to influence someones betting outcome I cant see a problem. Drivers cant bet on races they are in. It would be no different to the AllBlacks having a team talk before a set move to score a try, they are doing it to win the game not to influence a betting outcome.
You would need to find evidence that the meeting or team talk was done to influence a betting outcome and was not just a discussion on how to win the event.

Just keep the East Asian away from the meeting.
