Is there a seating plan available? There are three different options listed on Trade Me: Start Finish straight terraces Back straight terraces Back straight Grandstand Each auction has a picture of the general view from that seating area, there is no option on which seats within each area, but all the seats provide good viewing. Any remaining seats will be available at the gate on race night - but strictly first in first served

Interesting to see how these so called premium tickets are being sold by the club on Trademe.
This method seems has some obvious advantages. Firstly the club can rake in a few extra dollars than from general admission sales, plus more importantly, it can get a gauge on demand. The fact that they are at this stage still promoting the 'strait terraces' and 'grandstand' seats indicates that these areas have not sold out. Therefore I assume they are not going ahead with the unnecessary cost of additional temporary grandstand seating, which makes economic sense.
However for some fans I'm not sure this is such a good deal. For example we were told '...Pre-sold Premium tickets allow a reserved seat..'.Actually these tickets are in a reserved area, but you have no idea where your seat will be. Some punters who have paid a premium for grandstand seating expecting a seat '...in prime viewing positions....and above this we have our main grandstand. This is elevated and provides the best view in the facility...' may in fact find that they are allocated a seat on lowest level of the grandstand, which actually has a average view, and moreover limited foot room compared to the terrace area.
I guess these kind of issues are not the end of the world and will get sorted over time with more experience. Perhaps next time the club could come up with a plan or map that clearly identifies each seat location, and then individually auction each seat on Trademe, rather than a blanket $10 premium for all seats in a so called premium area. I personally would bid more for my preferred seat somewhere up high in the a top three rows of the grandstand, rather than end up with a seat at ground level on random chance.

I personally would bid more for my preferred seat somewhere up high in the a top three rows of the grandstand, rather than end up with a seat at ground level on random chance. So to answer some of these questions: All pre-sold seats have been allocated on a first in first served basis, as has always been advised. This has been done sequentially as sales were made, from the top down and along either side from the centre of the seating (where you can see both ends the closest). Some may like that, some may not, but we needed to have a system so that is how it works. So - earliest purchases should have the most prime positions/view, as promised all along. Correct, not all seats are yet sold, so tickets just for Saturday are now available on Trade Me for pick up only, as too late to courier them now. (It was two day passes initially so you are guaranteed the same seats each day) . Just to advise, we have done all this due to peoples requests from previous Championships to be able to have a guaranteed seat and turn up without having to be there 5 hours before the meeting to stake out your spot, these seats are all numbered and are guaranteed yours, so if you go to the pits or to get a hot dog, you won't lose them. Anyone who has used Trade Me will also realise that their fees are considerable, plus there is a charge for Visa transactions, so in fact there is very little difference to the Club in the ticket value, but we need to add this cost otherwise we would be effectively making LESS money from the premium seats - as there is also the cost of the extra security staff who will be doing the "seat usher" job to be covered. As we won't have Trade Me fees to account for at the gate, any remaining seats (which will be the ones in the lower tiers), will also be available on the day for a smaller premium - remember, this still gives you a guaranteed seat with a numbered ticket, meaning you can go for a walk around and not have to leave someone to guard your spot. (And if you are late getting there it also avoids the problem of finding any remaining space on the grassed areas). Unfortunately nothing is ever perfect, but we have tried to offer people the best options and choices in how they enjoy this great event

what a waste of time and $$$ buying premium tickets. after the third race of the night they opened the "premium prepaid ticket" seats to anyone to use. i arrived a little bit late due to work and travel commitments but thought hey i have my own allocated seat no need to rush kinda the whole idea of them. but to find people sitting in my seats then arguing when i asked them to move wtf..dropped the ball here wellington club.

Exactly !! If they had not sold all the seats in the stands, why were the other stands not offered to those who had paid for them to space out instead of us paying for PREMIUM TICKETS and being all squeezed in, yet they had more room with a GA ticket. Maybe when selling the seats they should have sold the top row, all the way along first, then the next row down...as some people were down the front of the stand, had paid for a premium ticket and then a few races in people with GA get a better seat higher in one of the stands. Totally crap Wellington Speedway, This sort of thing should not happen because if you pi$$ off the people paying to watch, they just wont come back, and with out them there's no money at the gate. I think this is why small tracks should not run big meetings as they just have no idea !!!!!

enjoyed practice night enjoyed qualifying night sat in "premiunm seats" on back straight.
enjoyed both nights and how events ran
lucky that we were able to spread out (no one behind us) but to say spread out would be under stated.
do not wish to run the club down as such and they did advise space would be "limited" on the info they provided. However to say the space provided on the back straight was limited wouold be an extreme under statement. The venue was well under capacity on qualifying night so have to wonder if the sales process contributed to this.
If full for finals night then there may be many upset people who think they paid for "premium" seats.
I was still pleased that the option of reserved seats was available, just think space too tight.
rules also stated only one row of chairs at top of grass, well I see that was ignored. So for those that put high back chairs in front of this, in esecailly turns one and two, shame on you ignorate people and worse the club/ securuty not policing their own rules.
Despite all of this, I have to say when I viewed the venue on practice day, one has to agree the club has done a huge effort to upgrade the venue for these meetings this year.
Qualifing meeting seemed to run well with few on track issues and look forward to a grat finals night.

That would be nice but I wouldn't hold your breath. People sitting where we were, were not happy at all and were wanting the same... The Wellington club would have known at 7pm what seats were not sold and should have done the right thing for those who had paid the extra. I don't have a problem that the room was very tight as they did say this in the ads and being regular visitors to Wellington Speedway we knew it was going to be squished. But the fact that at least the last 2 stands were totally empty at 7pm, would you not give the option to those who had paid more to spread out before letting GA tickets in ?

you were very keen at pushing ticket sales...now that it turned to s***your hiding?
will the grandstands be open for ga again tonight? will us people that supported your new ticket system get an appology?
i have supported te marua for many years your facility is starting to take shape into something that will be amazing in the near future.
i have tickets to your show in two weeks too. will it be the same there?

I too am quite gutted about the seating issue last night. I was packed in like a sardine in one of the stands and noticed the empty stands down towards turn 2. People around me started wondering if we would be asked if we would like to spread out into these stands so we could all have a little more room. When the security guy took down the rope and the pack of General Admission ticket holders came hurtling towards the empty stands we were shocked. My "premium" ticket had got me a spot toward the bottom of the stand with no leg room and an OK view, while these others with a cheaper General Admission ticket got near the top of the stands and spread their bags and jackets out to make themselves comfortable with an awesome view. I will be contacting the speedway and pushing to get the difference of the "premium" ticket refunded to me because the reality is Wellington Speedway falsely advertised my ticket as "premium" when it was not any more "premium" than those with a General Admission ticket. The meeting itself was great and it's a shame the speedway made such a big error.. Could you imagine going to the teams champs in Palmy and them letting General Admission ticket holders into the grandstand after 2 or 3 races? Don't see it happening myself. If only they had let us spread out before inviting anyone and everyone in, then I for one wouldn't be having this rant.

I think the premium ticket project thingy didn't really work and there are lots to learn for the club. From the delay in mailing out the tickets to buyers, to the comments that have been mentioned on this thread, I just didn't feel like I was really been looked after. I generally have a personal attitude in always finding a constructive in a negative but I'm strugglng at the moment. In the end my response is my problem but tonight I won't worry bout my "premium" seat and seek to find another location on the side of the track where I can hear the commentary without some siren going off in my left ear! The positives are the pleasure sitting next to a Chch person on my left and a couple of speedway stalwarts who are regular posters on Macgors, on on my right. Great company! I hope my money helps pays for the concrete slabs I sat on last night and that I'm sure it forms part of the vision but the whole thing has been stressful to say the least and like anyone I have options how I spend my $$ and time. Looking forward to tonight's racing!
