After watching speedway at Wellington since it first opened.. then racing later on...I have always thought that a better job could have been done at the various BIG meetings over the years.
So I have much pleasure in saying that as a spectator ....this was a superb weekend of showing the paying public a fantastically well organised Championship. From first entering the car park it was easy to see that it was going to be successful.
Thanks heaps to the club and even the weather came to the party !! Thanks to the Drivers , officials, and unpaid tireless volunteers
Too often its easy to be critical......Things go wrong...
SO ........
WELL DONE WELLINGTON Club ...Bloody marvellous !!!!
Cheers
Wiseowl

Even watching from afar and despite the track repair delay Wellington deserve accolades. It was pretty obvious they had been putting in the effort to make the meeting a success and that success happened. Well done.
And now they barely have time to catch some breath before they do it all again for the Super Saloon title.

I should have added a big ups to the commentary team too , awesome job by Paul Hickey , Mal Sines , Graeme Mead and some fella by the name of Alan 'Ramjam' Buxton.
I really appreciated their work being delivered to my speakers at home.

Just got home from Te Marua, excellent meeting right from the start there were officials showing you where to go and your seat etc.Had Stratford, Palmy and Nelson supporters around me and we all laughed and chatted and had a good time, WHY because the Wellington club had a no alcohol policy and it made a big difference, We all come along to see the racing with our family's no hear loud abusive drunken behaviour that can ruin it for the race fans if you want to drink go to the pub so big ups to Welly and maybe other tracks that serve alcohol should look at their policys also.

If Wiseowl, who has been watching speedway since Adam was in short trousers, says Wellington ran a good meeting, it must have been pretty much faultless. Well done to the Wellington club; putting on one major title meeting is a big undertaking, but two in the space of a fortnight? You guys are tigers for punishment. Here's hoping that the hard work has been rewarded on the bottom line.

If you hadn't noticed there were corporate boxes on turns 1 and 2 with people out the front drinking alcohol and having a good time. Your comments suggest to me you are tarnishing everyone who drinks alcohol with the same brush? I have seen sober people at speedway meetings behave like bigger idiots than some drunks.

I was extremely impressed with the overall running of the meeting, all races were run smoothly, commentary was great etc, no wondering what was going on. Seating in the grandstand would have been uncomfortable for some, we were fortunate enough to have the people in front of us move down lower so we had adequate legroom. Not sure if we want to chance the same thing happening for NZ Super Saloons, or just buy terrace tickets for comfort's sake, but have a less idea view. Those who sat in the terraced seating on the back straight, how was the view there?

Hi Muncho, try looking in the grandstand at palmy on teams night and tell me the misbehaving loud people are usually the intoxicated ones, and other than the corporate boxes at Te Marua i didnt see anyone walking around drinking.

Hi. Well people would be stupid to walk around openly swigging out of a whiskey bottle now would they.I know for a fact there were people having a few drinks in the carpark area. And correct me if im wrong but I didn't hear of anyone getting kicked out for being drunk loud or abusive, considering there were a few people consuming alcohol. Palmy teams has a unique carnival/sevens type atmosphere where for the most part the general public are well behaved. Im not disagreeing with you when it comes to drunken idiotic behaviour at palmy teams.I just don't think banning alcohol from speedway events will solve the problem. Increased staff numbers, better policing and swift actions for the unruly would be a good start.

loved the smoking ban on the terraces/grandstand. hawkes bay had a smoking ban in the pits for the NIs
id say most people went to watch rather than drink anyway.

One suggestion for the Wellington for the upcoming Super Saloon Champs - please get a singer for the anthem..!!!...Even the local Rimutaka Tavern Karaoke Champion will suffice. The lyric less, low quality anthem music that was played fell quite short for what is one of NZ speedway top events.
Just a small gripe, but theres nothing like a bit of national pride at an event like that.

I just thought I'd have my say on the nz superstocks.. Apart from the fact I was disappointed I wasn't racing in it I would have to say its the best nz champs I've ever been to.. Everything seemed real good. The led red lights is the best idea ever. The place looked good. Awesome comentry with plenty of info. The organising of parking in the car park was great. Even when we were leaving yet had people directing you, including cops. And it was free unlike some tracks that charge you $2. Then don't care.. The racing was awesome. And as soon as the track started to rut up they stopped and did somthing about it.. Congrats to Wellington speedway you certainly deserve as many big meetings as pos.. And it was good to see 46w qualify after the time effort and money he puts into the sport and Wellington... Congrats to Rees, bengston and Barr..

Did you offer anything constructive to this discussion beachbum? or did you just jump in because your new years resoloution was to be spokesman for AA? If I choose to enjoy a drink at speedway, the mall, the alleyway or anywhere else in the future must I consult you first? But to answer your question I can handle going to speedway without having a beer. Can I ask you a question....can you not hop on this discussion board without making an a s s of yourself on a regular basis?
