Has it gone too far? Perhaps not yet, but if things posted as reportedly said by the various parties since are all true, it's about to. I just implore the various parties to consider what's important in life, and if what they're saying to each other really does seem THAT important right now, then it maybe THEY that need to take a good look at themselves. Then they should go out, meet a few people, especially children, that really ARE hard done by, then take a look at what these people have got when compared to themselves. Chill boys. It's only speedway. It's not really that important in the overall scheme of things. Barry B Well said Barry. Both parties (and their tribes of supporters) should disengage from social media, and just let some of the steam and hot air dissipate. If Asher Rees has indeed threatened to end Humphrey's racing career, that is very unhelpful, and could well be construed by SNZ or by a court of law as a direct threat. What happened on Saturday night happened, and was dealt with by officials on the night. If anyone is dissatisfied by the official outcome, there are remedies available via SNZ's rules. Here's hoping that the absence of any racing at Palmerston North this weekend gives both Rees and Humphrey some space to chill out, and to reconsider their positions. Let's not forget that superstocks are high-powered weapons with the potential to cause significant injuries, and that decision made when one is hot-headed are unlikely to be sensible decisions when viewed in the cold, hard light of day.

if asher did say ill go till i retire kerry ,a senior ref or snz needs to step in and give asher a warning you do this you suspended ,now will ashers old man have much to say lets wait and see. absolutey agree. its time Pete stepped in and took control of the situation before it gets out of hand - if it hasnt already. As someone said on the facebook page - it takes a man to apologise but a bigger man to accept it. This is a big learning curve for a young and abviously talented young man. he can either be the bigger man, accept the apology and forge a fantastic career or carry on as he is and risk ruining his or someone elses life in the process. Kerry is not blameless but as it stands now even a legitmate tap between the 2 is now going to be seen as "payback". Its all getting a bit silly. if anybody had heard the radio interview with peter rees early in the season, upon being asked if asher is out of control on track (or something along those lines) you would've heard his response was 'once the pit gate is closed I have no control what he does', peter rees may have calmed down over the years but has just as much hostility towards the same drivers as his son and to theothermikeyb talking about punishments etc for kerry humphreys you are comparing apples with oranges it seems. ashers opening night incident ($50 fine, no stand down) and chad aces run off ($1500 fine, 10 week stand down) both broke rules (should I even have to remind you) that were implemented this season to stop the serious injuries of drivers, i'm afraid hitting after chequered flag occurs more often than people probably realise, when 99% of the time these instances are unintentional

I hope asher didn't say that on the radio, osh will have a field day now if one or both end up hurt its suppose to be a race where contact is allowed if asher has said that on radio it shows an intention to injury [superstock being the weapon} you think it never say it, gee what a fire storm this could end up as

Too many egos in this grade... Here's a solution, hit him back and make it a good one. The crowd will love it. After all they are the ones that pay to watch.

A warning for what??? Which rule number has he broken?? SNZ can only do something if a compeditor breaks a rule that is in the rule book That is not true - SNZ can and does sanction members outside of racing, look at Wayne Hemi, he got suspended for slagging off the controlling body on facebook. Most organisations have a rule that states you can be penalised if you are thought to bring the organisation in to disrepute

SNZ and the drivers will sort this out. My fear is that passionate supporters who will take sides and will never be wrong. That could lead ( after a few or a few too many) an ugly scenario which could turn ugly and then they decide to sort out each others opinions. This would damage speedway more than it needs. Passion is great, narrow mindedness from opinions that are tarnished with fuel from a bottle wont do this any good at all. As Barry said, stay calm and sensible, and keep your emotions under control. Right now we have a heap of he said, and he said, and I heard, and I know, and I saw it, and I saw it too. Cap the personal attacks and chill out people.

Has Kerry actually apologised or stated he intends to apologise? His post seemed more about justifying and explaining what happened rather than putting up his hand and saying I stuffed up. Yes I am a Rees fan and that will influence how I see this. Had the hit been legal I'd have accepted it. Had there been a grey area (eg it happened just after the flag) then begrudgingly accepted it. Is the punishment enough? Not for me to say but bet Chad Ace has an opinion. I do worry it has gone a bit far. Emotions seem pretty high in the Rees camp if some comments here are gone by and hopefully time will see heads cool a little. Suspect they wont race this weekend to help prepare for teams and that that time may help things a little. Stop and think how upset would you be in this case where it a) robbed you of the chance of a title b) scared the living bajeebus out of you c) saw it as a personal attack and d) put you at serious risk of harm (how many drivers to you see unbuckling on incar on the warm down lap). Worse if you saw it happening to your own son? I think they showed great strength and character not to settle it other ways in the pit. i just hope this just gives an edge to teams and nothing bad comes of it for the sake of all 3 involved and the sport itself. A - happens all the time, nothing to say he would have won it anyway (was only the first heat) B - I doubt that, the lights were still green so his eyes would/should have still been open C - every time a car takes to you deliberately it is a personal attack, get over it D - No more risk than any other time on a race. If a driver has loosened or removed his belts while still on the track under a green light he/she is an absolute muppet. The real chance of harm with this incident was the way the car fell to bits. I was gob smacked to see that because lets face it, the hit wasn't that hard! you see this type of impact all the time with no damage at all. The Rees'es need to look at the way that car was built/maintained because it should never have failed that way, and if it hadn't there would be nothing more than a few dents. If they had settled it in the pits the way it seems you are referring to then they should be banned for a very long time, very pleased to see they were mature enough not to.

yep, good call graeme, let the power's sort it,i haven't seen the hit, wondering did he see the chequered flag, had the light's changed from green to orange, since the driver's are given a white flag to indicate the last lap, why couldn't the green change to a white light for the last lap,the driver's would see that, and then the white light to start flashing when the winning car crosses the finish line, thought's

also ill add a tiny bit to this I was there and I didn't realise it was the last lap either but I did see the incident with 126p and 79p

So far as I'm aware the matter was sorted by the Ref on the night. There really is no need for it to go any further unless the driver(s) carry it on which may have happened on a radio interview today.
There is a concern in my mind as to why so much metal came off the car, I hope SNZ have taken a look at that too. They would be failing if they didn't.
Kerry Humphrey should be given credit for his unblemished record thus far, can't say I've ever see him do anything untoward. If he says he didn't see the flags then I see no reason to not believe him. It's his responsibility to see the flag and he didn't so he was punished. That's fair.
The ill thought through update on the Rees facebook page shouldn't have happened, wiser heads should have intervened.
Some keep saying leave it to the drivers and SNZ to sort out , there is some merit in that but it needs to be realised that events that happen in the public domain will be commented on by the public. Expecting anything else to happen is unrealistic.
Personal attacks aren't tolerated but commenting and critiquing a drivers public performance is not a personal attack. Ever heard anyone criticise a rugby player on the radio or TV.
I do think though this topic has had plenty of airtime on here and it's getting near time to move on especially as people are commenting before taking the trouble to read prior posts which means the merry go round of misinformation starts all over again.

You mention the car falling apart. Going back to what I was tought in school science, every action has an equal reaction. So when you include the speed difference between the cars, the solid concrete wall Asher was up against and the fact that he didn't go up the wall or roll, my guess would be that the energy from the impact has gone through the car then come back to the same side and has found a weak spot on the left side rail (which takes a lot of punishment) and has caused it to come off and also lift Kerry's car up and damage engine etc.
Well that would be my theory??

The fact that large pieces of metal came loose is worth investigating. Did welds break? did the metal fracture or tear?. Did it bend at all? It's a rare thing to see what happened happen.
