“It’s Fri night and two hours to go til the Rebels team rumbles into the Arena and does battle. It’s the final team talk. The tension is thick with anticipation as the leader of the team comes into the room and takes his place over by the salad bar. He’s been through many superstock teams battles over the years and survived them all. The leader’s eyes shift nervously from man to man. He crams a mouthful of lettuce dunked with mayo in his mouth and chews. The team dare not take their eyes off him as his gaze is unswerving. Finally he bellows out "Always remember every one of you Rebels is unique, like everyone else in this team” The team nod their approval and yell in unison “Yes sir!”. and never test how deep the water is by jumping in with both feet. Again the team members nod their heads in approval………."
Seriously though guys all the best for Palmy - Bryce, Lance, Paul, Nick, Graham & 6th driver Jason!
He karakia:
Kei te noho koutou i raro i te taumarumarutanga o te Kaha Rawa. Ka korero au, mana i koutou pa, piringa, Atua, ae, whakapono koutou ki a Ia! Mana i whakaora koutou i te kaihopu manu i te mea kino o te hoariri. Kahore koutou i wehi i te kino notemea kei te taha Ia i koutou. Ki tona taiaha me te patu, ko ena hei whakatiaki koutou. Whakawahia te wairua tapu ki runga i o koutou mahunga i te hinu. Kotahi te hoariri kua hinga i te taha koutou,ae, wha hoariri i te taha koutou, kahore koutou i te hinga. Ka titiro koutou ki te utu mo te hoariri. Ka tonoa i tona anihera kia tiakina koutou i roto i ona ringa, kahore koutou kei tutuki i te kohatu!

Firstly congratulations to the Panthers 2015 champions - awesome! Bad luck Rebels but most importantly glad to hear Steiny and Lala out of hospital and recovering from the knocks! Here are some reflections from an old Army manual that may cheer you up: - Reflection 1: for Nick: “aim towards the enemy” Instruction printed on US rocket launcher - Reflection 2: for Lala “friendly fire isn’t” - Reflection 3: for McRobbie “Don’t draw fire - it irritates the people around you” - Reflection 4: for all Rebels supporters “failure is a necessary part of learning”
Finally as General MacArthur said “we are not retreating — we are advancing in another direction." Get well guys and your family and health takes priority - all the best for Auckland! Ma te Atua hei tiaki koutou!

If I was forced at gun point at the start of the weekend to put $1 on at the TAB on who was gonna win, it would have been these guys (only marginally mind), They actually showed signs of brilliance & I think Lala raced the best I had seen him, up until a couple of moments of plain bad luck really. Very good strong looking team, who hopefully will stay together & grow.

Will there be any stand down time for 118r and 23r for medical reasons.? Hope they make full recoveries from what looked like some big hits.

Steiny will have the standard 3 weeks for having a nap, not sure about Lala but I'd pick that if he has a broken vertebrae as has been said then he wouldn't want to be back in a car until it's healed properly

Just for the record as interviewed afterwards, Nick had nowhere to go and the tank hit him pritty hard in the rear end. I'm sure Nick has brought him a beer (or three) though

Looking on the bright side tiroto, it's only 1986 since that happened last. Imagine if you were a HB supporter.........

Yep don't remind me - it's been that long ago? Actually I reminded Barry Hunter of that fact couple years ago at the Hunter workshop. Well that got him going "Tiroto boy - that Wildcats race (1998) I wanted to grid off the back - take those cats off one by one but they wanted me off the front (he says with righteous indignation)! Maybe there's been a major conspiracy against the confederation all these years!

Barry B Dunno what your comment was supposed to mean Barry but from memory the Hawkeyes have been right at the pointy end on many occasions in recent years , possibly more times than most . Im guessing the Hawkeyes supporters are a proud bunch...

You are correct highrevs we are a proud bunch but some silverware in the trophy cabinet from the teams champs would be nice. Maybe next year it will be the hawkeyes turn to stand on the top step.

Yes, HB have been at the pointy end, often, as has Wanganui (losing finalists 5 or is it 6 times now?), but neither have ever won it. Comment is not intended to be insulting, merely pointing out that at least Rotorua has tasted victory.

That 1986 team is pretty exceptional. 4 of the five drivers went on to win 1NZ with Hobbs, Hunter, Free and Rumney. Not too sure if that will hapen again. All i can remember from that was Hunter trying to remove the opposing teams engine by driving through it!
