I have said it elsewhere I strongly believe the wall has contributed massively to this, the poor state of it and average patch up jobs have lead to it becoming a big ramp , there is no way the car should have got up there that easily. I have had the displeasure of going up in almost the same area and coming to a sudden stop by a post last season, it aint fun. for the super saloon class this has shades of phil bucklands crash many years ago at end of front straight at waikaraka that ended his racing career. I don't think steve is at fault here it looks like craig has slowed early and steve was coming at pace , was un avoidable. wishing craig a speedy recovery

All i can say is a little chap from the naki that raced wide in that corner seemed to have more luck even in the state it has been for many years ,ran the same number in fact ,but perhaps not the same tyres and tyre pressures Hope the recovery period is not long ,as you may not want a shaggers back on your wedding night would you now .?

Cricket and western springs ,Seems Percy should have stayed home if he wanted to watch some bubbling mud coming through the fence

Exit turn 2 Marty 24w is baulked a little by a car in front, this results in Russell Donovan (black 76m) hitting the picks, who in turn gets a nudge from Steve.

Could be wrong as I wasn't there but the Sun appears to be shining down that straight aswell may have had something to do with it. Frightning crash, hope Craig recovers well.

Did Blondie race? If so, how did he go?
(Yes I know he came out in the wrong group for one race)

Qualifying has two groups, Red and blue. Each group has two heats.
Could have had four heats as one group but the promotion sought to reduce the carnage with two groups.

^ Nice pass by Osborne on Donovan on turn 4 on the grass! Most would have backed off which I guess is why most never get to be NZ1. Entering turn 3 it appears Russell is mid track and Mark manages to legitimately take the pole line. Russell appears to almost loose it and changes his line to the pole line - technically a no no. I suggest Mark was shepherded across the grass and his commitment to winning has him keep his foot up it.
Hard to see on my grappy ol' video but I guess even harder from the refs box watching the whole track. What the ref should have seen was a few push starts (outside assistance stuff) and a couple of jump starts from grid one.
Seems to me speedway is way behind the 8 ball in regards the integrity of refereeing and it's mostly no fault of the ref ... cars are faster, investments are higher. Seems to me it's past time speedway addressed the issue of being too reliant on one two or three pairs of eyes only. The competitors have upped their game, so must SNZ.

No race meeting is refereed by only one set of eyes Murray. For instance Waikaraka has a Referee and three Assistants on top of the Senior Referee appointed to the allocated titles. Happy to accept constructive feedback, but not that based on incorrect assumptions.

Happy to accept constructive feedback, but not that based on incorrect assumptions. Thanks Tim. Okay, amended my post to reflect two or three pairs of eyes, but the content of the post remains the same. We need to do better.
I'm aware of the extra eyes on hand but equally aware of, on occasion, an unwillingness and or inability by some refs to maximise the benefit of them. If, as you are implying, 'all eyes' are able to meaningfully contribute to the refereeing 'in real time', that raises a few questions.
Do you accept that even with a Referee, three Assistants and a Senior Referee appointed to the allocated titles, there are still very basic race rules at times over looked, that go unenforced? The saloon/super saloon race rules as they apply to a competitors on track behaviour are poorly understood and subsequently applied by many on the track and in the box. Since when can a competitor be push started?

Hey TimSNZ, you haven't answered my question, "Since when can a competitor be push started?" Why?
