No that season Woods won his first nz got second at North Islands Following season couldnt retain nz1 but smashed all for the rest of the season NZGP North and South Island Champ . hbhornets that aside his name will be forever famous the first Superstar of Supers and his titles haul is still the best of anyone . We fact for you all at the Glens very first meeting 1974 in a 56 customline he swept all a side should've been a wake up call the South knew how good he was wasn't till 77 that the North Island found out

I see the next inductees dinner happens next month. Any idea who they could be?
As its an open wheel hof, ol peter above and his achievements are not in line with the criteria.
Why don't snz run this? It then has a real achievement status and should become globally recognised recognition for the individual.
A whole heap if great racers missing from the current list.

If any one in the super saloon class should be given an award it is 96A Lance Jennings. While his title collection may not be as great as others, his time [ 40 plus yrs ] and dedication to the grade would beat others hands down.

I'd agree with that. Although this hall of fame is for open wheel classes. And not all open wheel classes as well...

Woodart no doubt Blondie was a great driver but when you look at the stats these two won a lot more , Good old 96a out lasted them all and is well still competive to this day you could put a lot in there
My pick would be Woods won at a lot away from home and out of all features in all the major ones that count a Driver before his time just my view on it we will all see it differently thats the joy of it all

Just to clarify something the "Hall of Fame" that the Manawatu Speedway Club is looking at is open to all classes, not just for open wheelers. To have a true New Zealand Speedway Hall of Fame all classes must be considered.

I'd agree Chris. Would be great to have our legends recognised across the sport.
So many people have given so much to the sport that have not been recognised as yet.

Any ideas on who the new inductees are? Or is it strictly on a need to know basis....

I don't think they have inducted anyone since 2016,the last 4 being john Goodall,Eddie James,Dave Tomkins and Trever Redman, time for some new names I think.

Nice one. I've just located the website as it happens. 2018 inductees were Len Gardner, Ray Alach, Peter Bruin and Ray New.
After looking through the current hall of famers I note there are some glaring omissions.
Also worth noting this hof is not snz sanctioned so is really one man's opinion.
Be great if snz ran the hof to really give it some cred, otherwise just one chaps or a group's opinion really.

What was interesting to see was the top open wheeler in NZ as per last months NZDTM has not even been inducted into this HOF.
I think it is obvious that this HOF and the decision's made by this group are by agenda and not on merit, which is really disappointing. When you align yourself with this type of "award" you need to be completely impartial.
If you haven't seen the list and article compiled by Tim Savell in the dirt track mag, have a look and all will become clear. Great article Tim, well done on spending the time putting this together.
