These teams events often have an unexpected team make the semi-finals or even the final.
Which team will it be this year?
I'll nominate the Christchurch Crushers. If they can keep their top 4 cars on the track they could upset some of the favourites. You have to respect a team with Ricco Gray, Jay Knight, Kyle Lane and Josh Prentice.
Whose your dark horse pick?

Gisborne........... They have never won it. Look at the team, they have Lloyd, Kirk, and Harding, that can win most races. Unfortunately they then have a few ring in's just to make up the team. Although I would not want it held there next year, as the banked oval will be very average for teams.

Im over here trying to figure out who the favourites are and you want a dark horse?? All the teams are top notch with a better spread of the top drivers compared to previous years but gizzy are my pick.
That one guy they have thats had the 1nz five or so times in stockcars and his son who i think is the current 1nz are hard to beat as well as the rest of the team who will no doubt compliment these 2 just nicely.

I'm not picking horse's - I'm staying loyal and picking a big black cat - go the mighty Pumas.

I also struggle to pick a dark horse when I'm struggling to pick a front runner. Historically we look at the pumas and young guns and this year the rascals. Pumas are missing a few of their big cats from years gone by in the way of reesX2 taniwha and Alec wilson. The young guns are looking like the side that dominated for a few years less Kyle lane. The rascals are the teams who won the title last year so id say their the event favorite.
In saying this I would say this is the closest event for a while with the likes of Stratford Wanganui and a rees-less pumas ticking up victories of notoriety this season throw in the likes of Hawkes bay Auckland nelson Waikato eastern states Christchurch and new comers greymouth and a very new look Gisborne all of whom I think you can throw a blanket over. So to summarise byo food and drink because you wont want to miss a second because every race will be good.

If the Crushers can get one over the pumas on qualifying night there my pick to take it out. Also dont be suprized if the Stormers are in the semis along with Gizzy.

Hard to go passed Wanganui Vulcans in my mind. They beat Rotorua to take the Rees Shield and one the Peter Barry, which included a win over a high quality Young Guns side in the final.

I'll go with the Wanganui Vulcans too , they've got drivers and machinery that are more than capable. It's time they took a big title too. Hard to believe Wanganui can be classed as Dark Horses but having never won it I guess they qualify.
Wild card would have to be the Baypark Bulldogs , I suspect they might just surprise more than a few people

Pretty hard to pick or call, all teams and drivers are deserving, i guess wanganui would be my top pick. but would preferr a northern team though.
