I really enjoyed tonight's racing.
We may not have had a huge number of teams but all 6 teams were quality. There wasn't a dud teams race all night.
The Stockcars provided strong support, particularly Mad Matt who made some new friends.
Modifieds fell off in numbers but what an opening heat with 119a Brad Lane taking advantage of a superior setup to pass 2nz Jamie Fox to take the win.
I suspect there will be some sore drivers tomorrow morning. There were some brutal hits.

Even with the rain before both nights and the short delay last night with rain who would have thought both nights would go to the end. Great teams racing.

Grid one for the all in was 79p Kerry Humphrey. Grid three was 1nz Peter Rees. First corner, HUGE right turn by Rees and carted Humphrey into the wall and t-boned him in. Humphrey eventually re-fired and tried to do some more laps but car wasn't right. I believe Stu Rackham driving the 79p car crack up

Talking to a guy at the garage when heading home lastnite . Said Pete Rees didn't care who was driving the 79P car , he still bombed it anyway . Wonder why Humphreys never drove that race himself ? lol

With all due respect..does anyone else think it's been a very long time since Pete Rees has dished out one of his old school huge trademark hits? He used to lay them on Kevin Roberts nearly every meeting?

Maybe Pete is looking after himself now after numerous KO,s

He does not have that advantage anymore.

He does not have that advantage anymore. Pete might not have the speed advantage , but Asher certainly has ... In saying that Pete was going pretty fast at Waikaraka Park. I wouldn't be too keen to think that Pete wont land the big shots these days , hes just the man to prove people wrong . As a well known superstock driver said to me lastnite , you would have to be keen to get offside with any of the Rees as they hit bl..dy hard ..

You just knew mr Rees would not be able to resist the opportunity! :-)

Good point, it can't have been a teams race because it was way outside of the teams racing rules for Superstocks.

I'd like to explore the issue raised by Jeffery in a new thread when I get some time. Hopefully tomorrow evening.

I had thought the same thing as Jeffrey but not a mention until his post yesterday. People talk about Pete and his speed. From grid three he could have easily won the $2k on offer but chose to continue the feud with 79p. $2k would have gone a long way towards recouping the cost the repair bill on Asher's car.

Nelson's win was well deserved on the weekend. Their committment to the Teams Nats cannot be questioned. I thought Blair Cunningham was outstanding especially on Friday night with Scott Meirs a close second although I think Blair came out on top in the final. His containing of Scott went a long way to achieving the win for the Tigers. For entertainment value you can't look past Mike Mac. What a driver, one who always puts car and body on the line.

Good point, it can't have been a teams race because it was way outside of the teams racing rules for Superstocks. Having just got around to reading the teams racing rules again it could be this race was run under the teams racing rules. I doubt any team had more than 4 cars out there(rule =4 cars per team) and I'm pretty sure they ran 15 laps (rule 10 to 15 laps) which also falls into the criteria. I doubt it fits into the intent of the new safety rules with regards overly aggressive attacking in turns 1 and 3 though. Speedway is a funny strange old game. R12-4-20 A teams race will be completed by 4 cars per team, with the exception of Stockcars that can run 5 cars (+ reserves).
So what is the penalty if less than 4 cars per team complete the race? lol

I thought about that and I assumed one would be in the Bernie team and the other the Stevie team or perhaps they were both in the AR team. lol

To be fair , we don't know whether 1nz was penalised after the event or not.
In open races the Referees do allow a bit of leeway for the first turn push that happens in large fields of Superstocks. Can't see how that applies to a turn right and full noise an opposition car into the wall attack though. The only possible mitigating factor I can think of is that they weren't yet up to full speed?
