Last night at the Teams a presentation was done on track whereby Wayne Hemi presented Steiny a $5,000 cheque, following his injury at Palmy - and with his uk trip later in the year.
This was as a result of raffles and other work and contributions that Wayne Hemi had personally organised, including a large contribution by a sponsor (sorry I can't remember who - I know that's bad).
Whatever opinion some may have of Wayne, I thought that was an extremely generous thing to do - someone in his position with so many business commitments, plus travelling the Tasman to race - does not exactly have lots of spare time! I admire him for what he does, his commitment to the sport, his generosity (let's not forget RWII allowing a talented young guy to race in Supers), and for always having time for the kids in the pits. And on top of all that he has been getting the 591p to meetings that haven't always been on the schedule ie 240s, and as he said himself at the NZs " the car is sorted and the driver has his mo Jo back". And it shows.
Well done Wayne.
