The news broke yesterday that up to 16 top NZ Superstocks will be heading over the ditch to rain shock and awe on Aussie speedway followers as per following link. Superstocks to AussieThis is awesome news and big ups to all involved. I have already marked this on my calendar and hope to be part of the travelling show supporting a certain ugly duckling and recording the journey for the folks at home.

For those that don't or won't use Facebook, this is an extract from the original post on the "Superstocks to Aussie" page.
This is being organised by Allan Woods (Toowoomba Speedbowl)with assistance from Jason Gutteridge (The Pits Media NZ)
Hey team.. just a few updates in regards to the Australian Superstock Trip... The dates are Sept 18th and Sept 26th and are at Maryborough and Towoomba Speedways. We have 2 teams confirmed with: Shaun Pearson (Captain) Peter Bengston Simon Joblin Scott Joblin
Kerry Remnant (Captain) Ross Ashby Steve Jude Thomas Stanaway
Wayne Hemi will be fronting another team and the South island team will be made up by Ivan McPhail..
Thanks so much for all the drivers that have asked to come, but sadly, we can only take 16. We are working with Speedway Australia and the Queensland Stockcar Club to try and get an Aussie team together as well. We also need 10 sponsors to which we are only asking for $2000 each. If you can help .. please email thepits@xtra.co.nz ... Between the 2 tracks in Australia, they have raised just a little over 30k .. If anyone can help with transportation, or any other type of assistance whilst in Australia then we would really appreciate it. We want to make sure that these guys have a great time and also the crowds will be treated to the Superstock class. The week that these guys are over there is a holiday period so potentially this could be a huge thing for Australians... If you in Australia.... Spread the word ..... More details to follow later in the week

Another update via Superstocks to Aussie facebook page with all team members now named.
... The South Island Team for the Aussie Superstock trip is:
186n Jared Gray 23c Jacob Brownlees 86n Blair Cunningham 9c Jamie Hamilton Team Manager is Ivan McPhail ...
581p Jordan Dare 94p William Humphries 56v Kerry Podjursky 45r Nick Vallance Team Manager is Wayne Hemi
Shaun Pearson (Captain) Peter Bengston Simon Joblin Scott Joblin
Kerry Remnant (Captain) Ross Ashby Steve Jude Thomas Stanaway
16 top Superstock cars and their drivers ready to battle it out to see who will be the first ever winners of the Aussie Superstock Teams Title ...
All four teams look really strong and the competition will be pretty even. However it will be interesting to see how the teams adapt to the different style of teams racing for these events, in that it will not be a full on demolition show and more speed and bumper work. I might be a bit biased but I will be backing Sharky, Peter, Simon and Scott. I am already having sleepless nights in anticipation of this trip and its five months away.....

I was talking to some of the Drivers at Huntly on Saturday night and it sounds like the fine print is close to being sorted so that the contracts can go out to the Drivers.
I haven't heard of any organised tours to date, although it sounds as if there will be quite a few supporters heading over. It sounds like they are trying to put together a travel / accomodation package for the Teams but probably will not extend to Supporters at this stage.
I hope to correspond with Jason (The Pits Media) before the weekend and hopefully have some more info that I can pass on at Waikaraka Park on Saturday night at the John Webster Memorial.
Cheers Smeats

Latest posting from Superstocks to Aussie FB.......
Hey team... sorry about the lack of updates. What's the hold up? Insurance is the only thing we are struggling with.
We are working with an insurance broker who has 4 insurance companies coming back with a price. The first price has come in but is not acceptable to us. Why? Because they only wanted to insure each container for a total of $100,000 which is clearly not enough.
It is important for us to make sure that the cars on the water are well insured before we lock them into a container and this has been the biggest nightmare. Almost everything else is locked and loaded. I say this with little confidence, but we are hoping to have all,the prices back by the end of the week.
Alan is meeting with the new promotions team from Towoomba Speedway on Wednesday and will have a press release ready to go by the end of the week as well. This will clarify a load of the questions we you may have.
I know is not ideal guys, but we knew it wouldn't be easy. I also know that some of you are itching to book flights and accomodation, but it's better to delay slightly and give you the right information than give you the wrong information and it costs you a heap ....
We will, certainly keep you all in the loop.
For anyone that thought it was just a matter of sticking cars in a container and off we go, well this is a huge deal and my hats off to Alan Woods and Jason Gutteridge for pushing on and making this happen. I am sure they will come up with the right package and get back on track (pun intended). The drivers that I have spoken to lately are really looking forward to this adventure.

I'm not sure who arranged the insurance when the Super Saloons went over a few years ago, but I'm assuming that was all sorted so somebody might be able to offer a little advice along the way perhaps?

Right on the money there Barry. Hopefully someone can put the two parties together with the broker and put the deal to bed.

Hi all, Im Cj Chesnutt, myself and Fredo (Mod 11A) arranged the container packing and shipping of the supers over to oz. Steve Williams was the driving force behind the deal, and knows all of the ins and outs. Would sugegst you touch base with Steve for some advice, but i recall sorting out the carnets, and the insurance for all 10 cars, which wasnt much of a hassle. Its going to cost approx 3k to cover a box of used race cars for a value of approx 250k NZ. Theres conditions that go with it, but they are pretty straight forward, and consist of precondition reports, and load and lash surveying etc. Biggest issue IMO for the supers over in OZ, was the transporting of the race cars and spares from the container unpack depot to the tracks and back etc... was a monumental effort just loading up and unloading the cars and spares for each track visited. Good luck guys.

sounds like some drivers wouldn't or couldn't commit when it came to signing final contract arrangements.
