The Flying Dutchman ring any bells?? I think 24a, 24h, 24r and 24m at different times as tracks opened and closed (and the cars always black), and number 111m in the original 1992/93 Baypark Busters who won at their first attempt at the Palmy Teams Champs in 1994.

Yup your right that was a stupid question I think some people forget that others Speedway experiences are quite different to their own, therefore many have many former well know drivers that are totally unfamiliar to them. I always say if you don't know the answer then no question is stupid.

I always say if you don't know the answer then no question is stupid. Exactly right , the first response was the stupid one. Amazingly I have met speedway watchers who have not heard of Dave Evans or Kevin Free let alone Phil Joyce or Dave Greer etc. Sadly time moves on and new generations replace us older addicts on the terraces.

Also don't forget that some of us are a little younger and didn't have the opportunity to see these drivers race.
I'd love to hear about the exploits of these drivers and what they achieved during their careers.

Agreed , even though I mainly follow the contact classes I don't know much about other drivers in say sprint cars and saloons. But I do remember dutchy . A very hard charger in his day and up there with the best in any field.

god that's old looks like steel body I think the first of the fibreglass bodies showed up around 1984ish, & I think that photo would have been taken very early 80's, & that probably means Frank is about 100 years old...., so you're right - god that's old.. BL

Talking of the golden era I spoke to Butch Whitford on the weekend. My soccer team plays his son's team during the season and Butch usually refs the game. He was a great racer and always does a sterling job with the whistle.

Yup your right that was a stupid question The only stupid question is one you don't ask. Nice way to let others know you think you're above them.
