A good line up of saloons and super saloons to finish the season off . No doubt after Speedfest there will be some withdrawals and hopefully some additions. The latest met forecast is for the showers to finish around midday sat and turning fine. Showers returning sun, the weather god must be a petrol head. For the northern fans the following sat at Whangerei for super saloons plus Queens Birthday weekend Taipa.

It's certainly one of the best line ups of saloons and super saloons we've had at Waikaraka Park for a while and I've only lost one car but have gained another four. Codi

This is a much better line-up than what was originally proposed for this meeting. It would seem the rainout has been a blessing in disguise for the quality of the line-up. Last time we were struggling to get an entry list on the Wednesday before the meeting. Now we have a full list on Monday. Hopefully the entry lists for the other classes aren't far away.
It will be interesting to see how the 4pm start time works out. With the additional daylight hours will the track maintain to it's usual standard and will the early start time result in a higher/lower attendance?

Start at 4pm, worried about track conditions..start at 6pm worried about the cold wheather. What ever time it starts & the amount of cars in each section at the moment is never going to please you. Don't forget to set your alarm clock so you can wake up from your afternoon nana nap. I'm not "worried" about potential track conditions. I'm merely raising it as a point of interest in relation to the meeting. After we saw a great Huntly track with a 6pm start time I'm fascinated to see if the 4pm start time produces a similar result. Unlike the DJ at Huntly this really is new. I can't recall Waikaraka starting a meeting at 4pm. As for me not being happy with field sizes in my previous post I expressed pleasure with the Saloon and Super Saloon fields stated. I wish people would actually read what I write rather than applying their own stereotypical ideas about what I write and coming up with bizarre interpretations like this.

one good thing about the earlier start time is that there will be a bit of wriggle room should the weather be cantankerous.
We've had the odd Sunday afternoon meeting in the past at Waikaraka including a Superstock Teams Nationals.
Saturday 9 May Few showers 19°C High 11°C Overnight A few early showers then fine. Westerlies dying out.

I think the old Mid-Winter meetings of decades gone by (late eighties/early nineties?) used to be afternoon meetings.

Tracks pretty hard so as long as the drainage has been working it will be fine. Moisture will be all the way through :-)
