I see that Oz ex crewman for the late Graeme Andrews is restoring the ex 69s Model T sportsman modified of Ray Jones build 1980 by Frank Pierce. Does any one have photo's of this car or its history. Have had quite a few people chatting speedway at home who remember Ray racing and doing well but no one can come up with any photos or info on this car. All they can recall is that it was a slightly unusual looking beast but did the goods. Did Frank[ Maurice] build any other chassis. I recall Frank being very successful him self in saloons, Zephyrs with Raymond Mays heads.

Was it yellow? I have a box of old Modified photos I was given a few years ago but very few have got the photographers names on them so have been reluctant to scan and put them up as I attributed some to a wrong name last year which is a no-no!

This photo could be by Ian Abrahams, Colin Irwin or Mike Magyar who's work is mostly in the bunch of photos I have. If anyone knows, tell me and I'll put their name on it. There are a few from this meeting and the cars are awesome.

There is hope that is the car as is has a New Plymouth sponsor on the bonnet. If it is or isn't that's still one cool looking car. Thanks Gregobro.

Just been talking to Frank Pierce and he was shown the photo. Yes it is the car he built, and when Ray Jones raced it , a p76 was the power plant. Good that OZ is restoring a piece of speedway's history. Hope OZ puts up photo's of the rebuild.

Hi, While I am able just to let you know that I have spoken to Frank ( Maurice) Pierce and it was a really great conversation and keeping Frank up with his Model T that he had built so long ago for Ray Jones. This little model T seemed to be a nice driver and the second owner of #69 T Chris Marshall has also been intouch . This is just so great. When we first saw #69 T was so chopped around and ran a 6 cylinder Ford Falcon motor and so fate has had it I ended up purchasing the T off a gang member who used to thrash the T in a paddock and had been smashed into an old tree trunk that had been cut down some time before. Rescuing 69 T was a bit of a mission out of a muddy paddock with the family car and a rather heavy car transporter trailer But hey that's the fun of it. Every thing covered in mud and a few choice word's later finally #69 was at home and getting a water blast and #69 T sat in the back of my work shop for 20 year's one in a hope to get it running to race it on a dirt track but as fate has it one night at the park we saw a photo of 69 in a Modified Dirt cup program then that started a search on the history. Well it's really interesting but there is a lot to find out yet. We will be running a Rover 3.5 alloy block as finding a P76 seem's to be a bit expensive and hard to find so Rover it will be as I have 2 engine's and seem's to be the option for financial reason's as well. My health has slowed progress and will keep chipping at the Model T. I will try and get some photo's as we go. So that's it from me. Oh yes I am the crew member for Graeme Andrew #98a Super Salloon and yes we bloody miss my old friend Graeme we had a hell of a lot of fun what a true Gentleman he was.. Catch ya.. Oz..
