One thing is the camera crew at the Teams racing events need to understand Teams racing. They need to have a idea of what goes on. I know everything cannot be shown but when you can clearly see a driver lining someone up for a hit and the camera man moves the same camera to a car driving around by himself doesn't make the viewing great. Would happen at least once a race they last few years.

Busterbell - initially we will be going to venues who currently do not livestream. Our main focus is going to be an on demand service as people really want this service. The real numbers of people live streaming is tiny and is a shame because it is a great way for the sport to develop but mainly people are at other tracks on the night live streams are happening which is why the on demand service is important. Events, we will tender for big events and supply a proposal as any other company would. Internet wise we have that covered but wont discuss this further at this time due to confidentiality of supply - more information to follow soon but a bit of cloud cover and too many people logged in will not be issues for us
drjkyl - Commentary wise we will begin working on some people soon who wish to commentate for us in our van commentating on what they can see on screen not on track. Independent commentators from the track not just a feed from the track commentator. We would like to try get a team of guys who specialise in different classes as well so that you as a paying customer are getting the best and most detailed information about the main class on the night.
m8sr8s - Teams racing is a very technical and different style of motorsport than anything else out there. firstly we need to tender for this event and there are already contracts out there for these events. We have a team of very experienced motorsport cameramen who have all attended many teams champs meetings and all understand how the meeting needs to be covered including our director and replay operator. If successful in being involved in teams racing this season coming our biggest goal is to capture all of the action for paying and on demand customers
I would like to thank everyone who is putting ideas forward of how they would like to see the stream and ondemand service work. Its really up to me now to prove our company to you and show that we can do the best and most professional job to supply you coverage of your favourite sport. Once we get our first stream up and running the macgors family here will be the first to view.
I look forward to helping speedway in NZ get the international coverage it deserves.
look forward to seeing any other suggestions
Cheers
Cody

For all the promised quality I can't see how you are going to make it affordable. I refuse to pay ticket prices for it.

For all the promised quality I can't see how you are going to make it affordable. I refuse to pay ticket prices for it. that then opens up the conversation of what would people want to pay: A) Livestream B) Monthly unlimited access to ondemand footage which will include videos of all sports recorded by us not just speedway.

I'm happy to pay track spectator ticket prices for it, you don't have the travel/accommodation costs which can be at least an extra 4 times the cost of a ticket and you can get a group of mates around to watch and split the cost. If you think it is too expensive for a live stream on the net then travel to the track and watch it or flick on the TV and watch Coro street. Most people don’t have an issue with the current live stream prices but they do have an issue with the live stream itself for not being just that, a LIVE stream, and then when the provider has failed to deliver they have run away with the $$

Other than the quality, the big annoyances with the current services are; Playing advertisements during the stream Not capturing the cars entering the track for the next race - please, please make sure you do this as it is the only way for home viewers to see who is actually racing. Not capturing the cars leaving the track after the race - watching this can be good for determining damage Not focussing on the vehicles being recovered during a stoppage.
To provide the complete package for me I would like to see driver/crew interviews and car set-ups prior to the meeting starting, and pit action between races, possibly with discussions with driver or crew about what they are doing and why. It would also be interesting to see if SNZ would allow the drivers briefing to be filmed.

Thank you MORDECAI for your support, I look forward to providing SNZ Fans a service they can rely on each week of the Speedway season. I know it will take some time to repair some peoples faith in livestreaming but that's what we are here to do.

Fantastic response. Your idea of mid week shed reports and having the ability for delayed viewing are very good additions. I look forward to trying your service.

If you don't want to pay ticket prices for a live stream then your basically saying you don't want to support speedway. What these company's are doing is effectively promoting speedway more and increasing the reach for a lot of cost I would imagine. As Beachboy said Id rather pay $30-40 for say as an example the South Island suoerstocks that I will more than likely never make it to, than to spend hundreds of dollars going live. Ticket prices are definately reasonable in prospective for a live stream. (Providing it doesn't drop and is a reliable stream haha) Does the speedway (club) that's being broadcast get a cut off each live stream sold?

Isn't that what helps pay the way for the service to actually survive. I'm more than happy to sit through ads, as I am during breaks on the racing on TV too, if it wasn't for ads I thought most things wouldn't exist?? If it means a bit of extra cash going to the right ppl bring on the ads

This is one of the more exciting posts I have read on here in a very long time.
I will try and be brief. With the added pressures on the home life,( yes lower payouts means less discretionary cash), live steaming is an alternative that certainly interests me. I get that looking at the screen is not the same as hearing those engines roar, the smell of rubber, oil and brakes but I it sure beats sitting at home watching coronation street. I have during the last season bought and tried to watch a live streamed event and the quality has been hit and miss but It sure is better than nothing at all and during the October/November period we are frantically busy and don't get a chance to get a speedway fix. If you can deliver half of what you are promising then put me down for a season pass - no questions.
This doesn't mean We will not attend the big meetings such as the NZ champs, the North Islands and the 240's to name a few but in my opinion been able to watch an "on demand type replay on previous nights racing(when the meeting is held over 2 night's ) or even a prior meeting that is in discussion or a meeting that is running the same night. All of these options sure the hell beats following the significant other around the malls and markets waiting for the racing to start later that night.
Price - my favourite subject. I agree the cheapest part of the evening is the entry price without considering the costs of getting there, the overpriced fatty inferior food while you are there most nights we would spend $100 on fuel $40 at the track and if we stay the night there is $120-180 per night accomodation or if we don't stay there is always another $30-$40 on the way home. However in my opinion if you set the price too high you are not going to get the masses of people tuning in. Is it better to have 500 people paying $10 or 50 people paying $25. Understand that your hands are tied by the promoters in lots of cases.take Palmerston North as a classic. The live feed is always the same price as the entry price and while no-one will ever confirm it you can bet your last dollar Bruce and puk are clipping the ticket. Likewise speedway live, who do an awesome job don't have coverage of palmy or Auckland and I am guessing that has something to do with the promoters not able to clip the ticket.
Anyway can't wait for this option to come on stream and yes put me down for a seasons pass if you have that option the Saturday nights during the winter are just not as good without speedway especially when our Chiefs don't win as well. Please keep us posted.

Before. oops it probably too late already, everyone gets too excited about this I've not seen anything from cameraman that suggests he has an agreement with any track or multiple tracks to live stream anything.
We already know there are difficulties streaming from many tracks , we all saw the mess of the NZ Stockcar teams feed. Huntly was a fail too I gather.
Palmy already have their own set up as does Waikaraka at times and I know the Waikaraka link doesn't come cheap.
I think none of the problems are insurmountable but it's not going to happen quickly, easily or cheaply. And that's before you get to the problems of trying to cover several tracks on the same night.
What experience does cameraman have with live streaming or filming any motorsport? samples?

Have just come back from the SNZ AGM and decided to check up on this thread, and ask some of the questions macgor has just asked (beat me to it again). Which tracks have you spoken to about live streaming from? I'd of thought perhaps one of the 24 tracks present may have said something about this, excitedly, if it was really that close to happening? As mentioned, several tracks already have their own filming, television, streaming deals in place. How do you fit in with those? Not knocking the sentiment and the enthusiasm, but have you spoken to anybody that matters, including at SNZ, about anything? Or is this what you would like to do as opposed to what "we are"doing? You're Christchurch based? But the North Island is in your sights too? You have the goal over covering all NZ titles, island titles and teams meetings with "a season or two". That's not very far away really, considering many tracks are not currently streaming because they don't want too. They prefer punters paying at the gates. I'd love to see the day where everything worthwhile was live streamed AND the stands were full, but I think the sport is more than a season or two away from that sort of thing happening.

However during a live stream I so no - I am paying to watch the meeting unfold, including watching competitors leave and enter the track, and/or pit shots or interviews. Which of these do you want to miss out on to watch an add for someone who is probably not even your town?

A couple of positive-supportive posts form the moderators, welcome to the sport and Macgors Cameraman Not a dig at all Beachboy. Merely asking for some confirmation, as tracks are named that have never even been contacted at this point in time. A lot of claims have been made on what they ARE going to do (not what they hope to do) over a fairly short time frame. One would think they've perhaps already been communicating with some of these tracks, bodies and other people they're talking about. It doesn't seem that long ago we had somebody on here that was going to build a new state of the art speedway facility if my memory serves me correct. There's nothing wrong with floating ideas, but until it's a reality it is nothing more than an idea. Barry B
