Hi Peeps, Proberly already asked before but who repairs transponders or I recall a post a ways back that some one had converted a TX800 unit to hard wired. Any thoughts please.

It used to be we sent the unit to SNZ who had repairs carried out. Ring them. And yes, I recall a post that hard wired the older re-charge battery versions.

From the Speedway NZ rule-book Off season Repairs It is recommended that if the TX8000 Transmitter is 4 years old or more, you should have it serviced during the off season. Speedway NZ service the units for approx $160, which includes new original type batteries and a 12 month warranty. Other repairs if required incur extra charges
Repairs are carried out in Australia by the manufacturers Dorian Industries, and include a 12 month warranty. Send to Speedway NZ and get a replacement unit returned right away.
Converting a battery unit to hardwired has not been successful as it damages the circuit board. Some people have tried to convert the TX8000 to a hard wire version with differing results, most have failed eventually The firm ware is designed to cycle the battery on charging so hard wiring will cause eventual damage.

Many people have also opened them and successfully replaced the batteries themselves. AA rechargeables and a soldering iron is what you need. Will save you about $120.

There is a place in Auckland that advertised in Dirt Track Magazine a while ago, Titanenergy 154 Kohimaramara Road Ph 02102733794. They can sort out the batteries give them a call and see what else they offer.

Glenn Rowlands makes a good battery pack for around $45 takes about 15mins with a soldering iron and a bit of expanding foam
