From what I've heard from Cindy, Nicole is on the mend. It was a nasty incident, and she got caught right in the middle of it, as did the 44B car.
The stockcars turned on some great racing, and Peter Rees was a deserved winner. He got a little choked up when accepting the trophy from Charlie's grandson Jack, and winning clearly meant a lot to him. Given all the titles Pete has won, that speaks volumes for Charlie's influence. Here's the report from the Oceanview FB page:
Oceanview is indeed on a roll. And we'll be back racing next Sunday at 3pm for the West Coast Adult Ministocks, plus all other classes.

Well done to the Wanganui chronicle, and their speedway reporter who looks to be doing a good job. but in general newspaper never cared about speedway and still don't. only one the does is the palmy paper, but newspapers are all but dead now Only one that does is Palmy?, We have won the best media coverage at NZ Speedway Awards two years in a row now (The Gisborne Herald) and are hoping to get it this year aswell. We cover every meeting held here and show the positive side of the sport. You obviously have no idea what you are talking about.. Far from dead.

I would pretty much guarantee you that paper is read more than alot of social media spots still. Alot of people dont have the likes of Facebook etc. We get to read good old fashioned reporting with clean pics. Any media support for the sport all helps in my opinion.

Great to see the local newspapers supporting their speedway events , palmy have a great following , and so does Baypark through Sunlive . Rotorua ?? we see nothing unless its a big event coming which is merely an advertisement for the meeting.

@ Superstock - newspapers may indeed be on the decline, but any coverage is good coverage, and most newspapers also have websites where stories are cross-published. So here's the link to the second speedway story the Wanganui Chronicle has published in three days, with copy supplied by myself published almost unaltered: www.nzherald.co.nz/wanganui-chronicle/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=1503424&objectid=11553763I sent the copy through yesterday, and within minutes had a call from a sports reporter to check the name of the 127G driver, as Ethan was in the photograph the Chronicle photographer had chosen to use with the story. Compiling and typing up the story took me less than an hour, time I give willingly to the sport I love. As I said on Saturday, all it takes is for someone to phone or e-mail the sports editor at the local rag and get the ball rolling, and the sports organisations who are proactive in providing stories are the ones who will get the publicity. It really is that simple.

The Charlie Berntsen Trophy is up for grabs next Sunday, November 29th at Oceanview Speedway. This will be the first time The Charlie has been competed for since Big Bad Charlie's unfortunate passing, and competition is sure to be fierce. Already the Rees family has indicated their intention to front up, and we are expecting a bumper field of stockcars to honour Charlie's memory. It's also the first round of the Elite Mechanical Stockcar Cash Challenge. There's a total prize pool of $5000 up for grabs for those who compete in all four meetings of the series. The second round is on Sunday 13th December, with two further rounds in March and April. The overall winner of the series will take home $2300, courtesy of Mike Mooney from Elite Mechanical and Engineering Services Ltd. Racing starts at 3pm next Sunday at the Oval by the Ocean. This should be a fantastic meeting. any results of the second round of this event held this arvo
