I think we need one of these threads when a track has done a decent job with one of these major championships and for my money Huntly did pretty darn well. Large crowd in for Qualifying night and massive crowd finals night , the race program ran pretty well both nights with adjustments made as needed. Commentary was good although volume levels were a bit erratic on night 2 The guts of it was that we knew who was up there on points and who to look out for during the racing. Running the 3rd heat of the championship as the last race on the card seemed to work out good too with many more than usual sticking around for the prize giving to avoid the car park crush. Made for a good feeling to that closing part of the event. The SNZ officials appeared to have controlled the racing side of things well too and their decisions didn't dominate the event. Thought much of the pricing was great too with nothing over priced (bar the expensive under filled tubs of icecream) and some bargains to be had with Gold card discounted entry $10 , $5 programs and $20 T Shirts. Free overnighting for a large number of Motorhomes was very generous. So as the title of the thread says Well done Huntly

Its nice to hear good coverage of a title meeting Also the new gold card worked for those who are entitled to it., Winstone, will be extra pleased Often those ice cream tubs arent filled to capacity as the ice cream is sold by the gram and the tubs have a certain retail weight when sold with a spoon of course ,which can be used for dipping into the pickled onions ,when the old girls back is turned .. Also a nice peace full evening of sleep with little travel ..except for a blurred eyed old codger trying his hardest not to wake anybody between motor homes finding his way to his bus .. Good one Huntly

Put this on another post but prob is more appropriate here..... Nigel.. and all of the commitee/volunteers/officials at Placemakers Huntly SPeedway a huge congratulations on a well run nz title. Coming from someone who lives in the south and has work/family/money constraints to travelling and as such relys on information through the internet in regards national champs/speedway throughout nz you and your team have done a fantastic job.
From the posting of results through your website to the behind the work scenes to get a live commentary stream for finals night you have in my opinion set the bar as to what a NZ champs should be.
I won;t ramble on about other tracks etc but instead offer my heartfelt thanks to you and your team once again. If all tracks ran their NZ titles this way Speedway in nz would in my opinion be in a much better position..

I only made the first night, but from the time you drove into the car park, guided by probably the most car parking assistants I've ever seen, everything seems to flow well. Everybody did their bit, including the competitors, and there was friendly people to assist everywhere. Well done Huntly.

Agree wholeheartedly Macgor. And it was a pleasure to have a chat with you on Saturday night (I was with Ramjam).
Huntly did a fantastic job, and have set the standard for a championship meeting. The action was non-stop, especially on the first night where it started on the first corner of the first lap of the first race, and never really let up. The facility was great, and Ramjam and I enjoyed watching racing from the Chequered Flag bar, where Mintie had kindly organised seats for us.
Congratulations to Jason, Dion and Jayden. To emerge as the top three out of almost 160 competitors was a fantastic effort, especially for Dion, who came through the hard way, via the repecharge. And Mintie's vision in getting a 1NZ ring for the winner has set a precedent for other tracks to follow. I'm sure the unique winner's ring is something Jason Penn will treasure.
All in all it was the best meeting I have attended in many a year. The Huntly team should be exceedingly proud, as they did an outstanding job.

Likewise Inventory apart from being peeved I hadn't twigged who you were until you'd moved on. I'm a bit slow off the mark sometimes. As we were well & truly gone Inventory did say something like "Is that Mr Macgor?". It was about then I thought gee I was prob somewhat remiss in my duties. #MyBad

Three blind men walk into a bar.............. Barry B Moving right along... Actually, speaking of bars, having one overlooking the track is a brilliant idea. The behaviour there both nights was fine (even mine), the prices weren't over the top, the service was excellent, and Ramjam and myself met some great people. And we had the best view in the house of any Turn 1 and 2 action.
