This is looking like a busy and possibly long night. If I have interpreted the format correctly we are in for 12 Qualifying Heats, 2 Repecharges, 2 Finals Qualifying Heats and then the Final Race. 17 Saloon races in total. Entries are currently at 37 by my count, so perhaps 3 Groups might be more appropriate? Entry for an Adult is listed as $20 which WILL be good value me thinks.

Being held at Waikaraka Park but I suspect you will be at Western Springs for the NZ Midget Champs...or is that more a glorified Auckland Midget Champs? Anthony

There are some notable cars missing from the current entry list. Does anyone know if the following were planning on entering?
69H, 86H, 88H, 14M, 76G, 77G, 29B, 92B, 57P, 24W, 25S and 45S

Anthony It'll only be value if they put on a decent 2 lane track (which last night wasn't), and the officials enforce the "no d!ckheads" rule that will be necessary to ensure the event runs smoothly and fairly (cf last night's contact between the usual suspects playing stockcars).

Now looking at 43 entries. Have not seen anything from the other drivers you have mentioned, so assume they are too busy, cars damaged, or just not wanting to compete.

sorry to harp on but when will wp put on a really good 2 lane track so this class can shine.sunday nights track was to put it bluntly absolute nutse. I feel Sundays track was a two lane track....but it takes balls to hang the back of the car out when taking the high line. Michelle showed this on a number of occasions. The NI Champs will have more of the ballsy drivers (thinking the likes of Dan Corrin and Nigel Ross) so should be a good spectacle. I just hope the holes at each end are fixed properly so a good track can be provided to match the class of the drivers. I am awaiting the format for the night to be confirmed by the promoter. I suspect a change may be needed due to the number of cars and to try and get the meeting completed in one night. I suspect (and hope) the format will be changed to 3 x qualifying groups x 2 races each (6 Qualifying heats) - top 5 from each group go through, followed by a repercharge of the next 20 highest qualifiers - to fill remaining 5 spots. Finals will consist of 2 grid heats and then the 25 lap final. A total of 10 races (max 6 for any car qualifying the hard way via repercharge). It will certainly be a busy night, but should provide some great Saloon racing. There also does not appear to be any standout favourite. I look at the entry list and can see about 10 drivers that could be considered a favourite for the title. Looking forward to the night - but I know I will not get to see much racing as I will be running around like a blue a**ed fly.... John

John i like the idea that somebody on here said. 5 heats. every car getting 2 races. then a b main and a a main. then the furture.

Yes i agree, far to much contact creeping into this class, and it is mostly the same "DICKHEADS" every time. Lets stamp it out please ! As for the track take a leaf out meeanees book, 2 lanes all night at the Saloon GP, BRILLIANT

Most people realise that horsepower is a disadvantage on slick tracks. It tends to even out the cars because you can't use all the power.

Most people realise that horsepower is a disadvantage on slick tracks. It tends to even out the cars because you can't use all the power. but its usually an advantage as it can take a while for some tracks to go slick - and it wont go slick all over, only in the areas most drivers tend to use. pole line is always black first and theres still traction further out if you have enough power to keep your ass off the wall. not to mention that good hp and good setup needs to happen at the same time - can have all the hp in the world on the best surface and still be lapped by other cars if your setup is crap.

Hi John I see that Dan and Ethan Cook, and Russell Gorrie are now entered. Can you confirm that Paula and Mark Hinton, and Brett Kaye have entered as mentioned above. That would make 42 entries as we appear to have lost Matt Eckersley off the list. Anthony

Thanks John, an ever changing entry list. Have you decided on the number of groups and race format, or does it remain as is stated on the website?
