From my observation Peter Dickson is one of the most talented and exciting drivers to appear on the New Zealand Speedway saloon circuit. Apart from a small glitch he would have been 1NZ Saloon. Not too bad for a first year driver. How many Saloon drivers would pass Dan Corrin . Also seen him drive a Super Saloon and wasn't that far away from getting a number in that class at the Nationals. We have some really great drivers in the Super Saloon class ,and now we have just added another together with some surprises. The Nationals at Cromwell early next year will have the greatest line up of Drivers ever.Cromwell usually run a couple of meetings around the 30th Dec and Jan ist (maybe a day or two out with these dates) including Super Saloons, and with the Grand Prix a week later in Invercargill after the Nationals in Cromwell this could be a feast for those who follow this class, so start planning now.

The organising of the 2016/17 NZ Super Saloon Champs at Cromwell on Jan 6th & 7th, are well on the way and already there are confirmations and bookings for accomodation from a number of the top drivers who will also take the opportunity to race at the Xmas meetings on Dec 30th and Jan 1st. The Cromwell organising committee handed out flyers to all the drivers at the recent champs held at Meanee with the intention of getting as many drivers to sunny Central Otago and the result so far leads us to believe the combination of a holiday over the new year period plus 4 race meetings, will attract a large field on what I believe is one of the most exciting tracks in the country. There will be a camping area at the track for motor homes, caravans, tents etc so if you intend to head down for the champs get organised and book your space, first in best parked. Take the opportunity to check out the impressive Highlands race track immediately next door to the speedway. Self drive a Mustang or 2 seater sports racer or as passenger in a Porsche or McLaren. The best Pinot Noir comes from this area and there are plenty vineyards to visit. Adrenaline junkies head off to Queenstown for a fix. Expect the return of two past 1NZ,s for Cromwell. Yep this might just be a great National champs.

The saloon grade down south is definitely jumping ahead quickly in quality and numbers. I really hope I have a bit more time next season as I can't wait to get back into it after a very very quiet season... :-)

Makes sense seeing Euan's saloon for sale on Trade Me, was hoping he was not leaving the sport. Towards the end of last season he had some great results and can't wait to see him in the hands of Pete's old car.
The Saloon class is definitely a strong point of Riverside with some hugely talented drivers entertaining us fans, throw in the Cromwell and Dunedin boys and Saloon's are on a high in the lower South Island as proved with the Saloon Slam.

Yea it did seem like there were a lot of date clashes with the 3 clubs this season, real shame as they should be supporting each other, Easier said than done. I know it's O/T would also love to see the War of the Wings return to Riverside next season.
